When was the last time you feared for your life?

I would have to say mine was during a horrible storm here where I live. There were tornado warnings all about. I am terrified of big storms. Like, sleep in the bathtub scared.
I've never been mugged, held at gunpoint, or anything like that though. But I am sure some people here have. Hell some people here have recently been overseas at war.

When I was heldup with a gun to the back of my head. About 2 years ago. Sure I've been scared, but that was one of the only moments in my life where I've been truly afraid (some others just happen to be other robbery attempts).

Landing in t-storm in Lexington, with status of landing gear unknown. Luckily, the gear was deployed properly. Oh well, I guess the rain would've doused any potential fire . . .

NWA really needs to do a better job of maintenance.

Last week i was riding my bike about to go through a cross walk. When all of a sudden a car pulled into it and instinctivly i swearved to not hit her. However i swearved into a 4 lane road with 40 mph speed limits. Thank god i wasnt hit or i would have died.

Unpossible.

I was driving to a friends house in the rain. It was a bad storm and I couldn't see so I pulled over. Well the wind started blowing HARD and the next thing I knew my car was off the ground and on the other side of the road. Sweet monkey jesus I almost shat myself.

Edit: Changed could to couldn't

Freshman in college - Four of us were sitting in a car getting smashed. Someone had the bright idea to drive somewhere, and I went along with it, even though I remember being scared to death.

We crashed into a ditch. It was snowing. We were all fine.

Dumbest move I ever made, literally.

Just about an hour ago. I was driving home and some moron decided my lane was better than his, except I was where he wanted to be. I almost lost my passenger door or worse if I hadn't been alert enough to swerve out of the way.

Every time I let my BF drive.

He probably insists on driving because he feels the same when you drive.

I'm by far the better city driver, plus I actually know how to get where I'm going. 😀

Probably the time the accelerator pedal got stuck wide open in my old car while I was driving on some twisty back road. Man, that sucked.

Some people set fire to a parade float sitting in my backyard when I was in college. The fire spread to my garage and then the backside of the house. I thought it was fireworks at first as it was 2 AM and I was dead asleep... then I raised the blinds and flames were covering the entire window... and the heat knocked me back onto the ground.

I had to sprint around the house to wake up 5 people and then make it out before the house was a goner.

when it was raining horribly in traffic...my windshield wipers gave out and my right window fell into the door....while raining

I couldn't see crap, cause my AC compressor sucked nuts too...........drove in the rain with my head out the window, LOL, in traffic...16 miles home.

my problem is that I don't get the fear part until much much later ... like 3 hours later, I'll sh!t in my pants realizing that I could've died

but at the very moment, I'm the very picture of "as cool as a cucumber"

tryin to get a car diagnose/started in the shop, I was sprayin ether into the intake (my coworker was cranking) the car backfires all of the ether back onto my arm
im running around the shop with my whole arm on fire! 🙁

In June when I was climbing Mt. Rainier. It was late in the day, the ice and snow were getting warm, slushy, and slick, and my rope team was climbing down a steep ridge of rock named Disappointment Cleaver. Unknown to me, my crampons had gotten clogged with snow, so they weren't working anymore. I took a fall and slid a few feet. I stood up, and fell again a few more feet. Once again, I got on my feet, fell, and slid uncomfortably close to an enormous drop before I got myself arrested. My heart was pounding out of my chest.

I fear for my life every time I read a post in P&N.

I was caving this last weekend, and was attempting to negotiate the wall of the cave over a 20 foot drop. The foot slipped, but the hands held. Another close one.
