I tried parasailing here on Lake Travis when (about 300' in the air) a storm blew in. The winds kicked up to about 40 mph and had me flailing around, my legs getting bruised by the cable. I was pretty sure with all the whipping around I was doing that the chute was gonna get twisted up and I was gonna plummet like a rock, so I was yelling to get me the f*** down.
After they cut the cable (the winch had broken and was spraying hydraulic fluid) I did settle down, and the ride down was strangely peaceful.

Unfortunately, the chute never deflated (is that the word?) when I hit the water, and I got dragged backwards several hundred yards before the boat crew managed to catch up with me and jump on the chute. I was only about 50 yards from the rocky shore, and headed in that direction.

I realized later that I had jinxed myself when, while signing the waiver, I asked if they had ever had any problems. Of course he said no...

I know what you mean. I have colitis and when is flared up I was literally going 30-40x a day, mostly being blood since I had very little food in me. It sucks. And it is longer than 10 days

I would have to say mine was during a horrible storm here where I live. There were tornado warnings all about. I am terrified of big storms. Like, sleep in the bathtub scared.
I've never been mugged, held at gunpoint, or anything like that though. But I am sure some people here have. Hell some people here have recently been overseas at war.

I never actually feared my life, well maybe in my dreams......Seriously though........

3 Hurricanes all within' a mth or two in FL a couple years back= Totalled car and house. That's one of the reasons I'm in TN now ;) FUCK FLORIDA! I've lived there on and off for about 15 years but it's just getting bad, really bad. If you like traffic, hurricanes, construction and cookie cutter homes, move to FL ;) When you work 10 miles away and it takes an hour to get to work? Florida is your home sweet home!

Central Florida sucks ass!
If you just go to Disney World, Busch Gardens or SeaWorld on vacation and stay in a Hotel, all is peachy. A week is fine with me but I will never be going back for more than that!

I wonder how many people are moving to LA/Louisiana these days. I would be snatching up that crap property though if I were the Monopoly Guy!

Car crash 5 years ago. Though I walked away from it after the wind got knocked out of me from the seat belt.

1) Countless number of car crashes. To the point that I don't have a license and I'll most likely never drive. Granted, I've never been the one driving and it's never been the fault of the person I was with, either.

The worst was when we were rear-ended at 40+MPH sitting at a stoplight. I was in the back seat. I had glass shards in the back of my head, my hair was coming out in clumps from the stress, and although I don't remember it, I apparently hit my head on the seat in front of me and the cartilage in my nose separated from the bone. I didn't go to the hospital because I felt fine at the time, and I honestly couldn't afford an ER visit. We got the glass out of my head in the gas station bathroom, along with half of my hair. I went to the doc's the next day after realizing how truly fucked up my body was.

Oh, yeah.. I didn't mention it was a fucking hit-and-run. :|

So, while I didn't "fear for my life," except for during the crash, those few seconds in that car were definitely the worst of my life.

2) My #2 would have to be my cancer scare. My mom had cancer, along with most of her family, so my outcome didn't look too good. I found out I had a large tumor on my humerus after getting checked out for an arm injury... and so the tests began. I had to sit there and let the doc inject me with a radioactive isotope (which is scary enough) and lay down through this painstakingly long bone scan. The cool part came when they scanned just my arm on a different machine and I could actually watch the radioactive particles "jump" onto the screen in the shape of my arm. I handled this a lot better than any of my car accidents, although I was still a wreck. The scariest part was that I was still in high school, and already had tumors growing on my body. Thanks, Mom, for such a terrible family history of cancer.

Depends what you mean by fear. Total, abject terror? Not sure if I've ever been there. However, I bike commute most days to work here in NYC so one answer could be "every day". There are some stupid MFers driving (and bike riding, I daresay) here. Also, I have a pretty bad fear of heights so there've been countless times when I've been scared @#$%less just by being somewhere.
