I know this thread is talking about the fast lane. But how does all this apply to the carpool lane where the person is stuck in the lane, yet the car behind them want to go faster?

I saw it yesterday and thought of this thread.

Slow down, or YOU pass me if YOU are in a hurry. I am content just driving to work.

BTW, Jumpem, you'd get a ticket in a hell of a lot of states for driving like an idiot. We'd be more than happy to pass you, in the LEFT LANE.

BTW, I'm always late, I'm always hauling ass, and I'm ALWAYS IN THE RIGHTMOST LANE until I need to pass.

No. If I am going at least the speed limit I stay in the left lane. If people don't like it they can go go around me. No reason for me to move because they are the ones in a hurry.

And if someone flashes me, waves their hands, or tailgates I will slow down to exactly the speed limit.

I tend to go around people like you, get in front of you, then slow down to 45 mph. If you try to pass me I'll accelerate and prevent you from getting back in front. You'll regret acting like an ass.

Heh. I own a fast car, and am properly trained in how to drive it, not just for my own enjoyment, but also for the ability to deal with dangerous passive aggressive drivers like Jumpem and some others here. It's why I don't feel safe in a slow car, because these assholes will box you in, intentionally prevent you from passing, etc etc.

I dunno what's more dangerous, dealing with passive aggressive drivers like Jumpem or dealing with just plain aggressive drivers like 91TTZ.

The passive aggressive drivers are more dangerous, as they are usually more emotional and less attentive at the same time. At least the overtly aggressive driver has some kind of purpose in what he's doing. The passive aggressive is just butt-hurt spiteful that you got up on his ass while he was obliviously picking his nose.

To the speeders who expect others to accommodate them by moving: You are breaking the law/not following the rules of the road and therefore can not expect others to follow the law/rules of the road. It's simple. Understand?

Furthermore,

This was not a question of law but,

Speeding is always illegal.

Not Moving is rarely illegal. Only six states require drivers to move right if they are blocking traffic in the left lane. Most states follow the Uniform Vehicle Code and require drivers to keep right if they are going slower than the normal speed of traffic.

So the question would be, Which is more of a hazard: Speeding or Not Moving? And the answer to this will reveal the moron.

Simple rule to follow. If you're not going to drive the same speed as the rest of cars in your lane, move over to the right.

What if you're in the right lane?

If you can't keep up in the right lane then you pretty much should not be driving on the highway.

But, if you're in a Geo Metro, it would be rather hard to keep up.

FALSE

Mine could bang out 90mph before it died.

I saw it yesterday and thought of this thread.

you exit the HOV lane at the designated spot, speed up in the left lane, then re-enter at the designated spot.

HOV lanes are kinda meh like that

Not entirely sure just *what* you are trying to prove. Speeding is illegal. So is passing on the right. If you are going the speed limit in the leftmost lane, refuse to move, and be a general dick to other people on the road, you're either going to get hit or shot.

Lots of people speed, and only a few idiots actually *try* to piss people off by intentionally slowing down or driving slowly in the passing lane. Who is the moron here?

As to the bolded part, If all the traffic is going 35 over (think Chicago area :D) and you are in the left lane doing the speed limit, who's the moron in this case?

Traffic rarely, if ever, goes at the speed limit.

Bottom line: if you can get over and there is a car behind you, you should get over. It's called common courtesy, and I do it for people, and I expect people to do it for me.

This is the problem with drivers on the road. They think they're entitled to cockblock everyone else. If you want to drive like an old fart, get out of the speeding lane.

The problem is speeders or impatient drivers thinking that they can tell me to move.

The problem is lazy deuchebags like you.

Actually, you're the moron. Your duty as a driver on the road is to drive safely, not enforce the traffic laws.

Your argument is loaded with logical fallacies. You don't have to be a speeder to understand that it's not a safe driving practice to block traffic and create congestive conditions just because for emotional reasons you don't want to "accommodate" speeding drivers by yielding the left lane, nor to understand that you don't have a legal right to not move in such a case simply because the law neglects to say that you have to.
But then again, safe drivers understand that one should never insist on the right-of-way.

Why is this so surprising to most of you people? When wrapped in 2 tons of steel they feel an elevated level of power similar to they behavior of a cyber-bully. Some people when insulated from society's confrontations will revert to a much more base, rude, and uncivilized level of behavior mimicking a child's behavior.

I'm sure those that refuse to exhibit a level of civilized behavior and move over for those wishing to pass also are those in our society that cannot be trusted when others aren't watching. The only reason they don't commit crimes is because others are watching. I'm sure when our are backs are turned they do many things to give themselves a feeling of power they cannot obtain through normal means. As those that have never really been able to shed themselves of their own inner child I'm sure that they eat their own buggers.

QFT oh yeah. I'm always happy to let a hero pass, so I can tail along 1/2 mile back. Close enough to spot his brake lights if he has some fancy detector:cool:
