i completely agree with the OP but boy is he in for a beating from traffic obeying ATOT'ers

there are unposted speed limits, example, the 2 lane Merritt Parkway in Connecticut has a posted limit of 50-55 yet it is completely safe to go 80-85. when you're trying to get to work in a hurry or get to where you have to go, there are no traffic, but some lady or idiot would stall the whole parkway and go 56mph side by side with another car that's going 55mph on the right lane. these people make me sick

If you gradually approach without flashing your lights, then I'm likely to either speed up or move aside on general principles. I realize unimpeded traffic flow is a plus.

Aggression just pisses me off and then I'll do whatever I can to keep you from passing me. So don't appear too eager to pass or it'll work against you.

Do you realize that you're acting no different than the guy behind you? By not moving over, you're trying to exhibit your dominance over him by controlling the lane. You are both being aggressive It doesn't matter who is right, or who "started" it. You're both trying to be alpha males. But in this case, the guy behind you IS right because you're supposed to move right, ya jerk!

Fact #1: Europeans are better trained drivers than Americans.
Fact #2: Europeans commonly flash their brights at people to get out of the left lane. You should feel ashamed that someone had to remind you to get out of the passing lane rather than doing it yourself.
I would be interested in finding out where you learned the information regarding Europeans being better trained. Anyway, the united states has hundreds of thousands of miles of roadway more than the euros not to mention the average daily commute for each american is much larger than any European due to the expanse of our country and road system. This equates to much longer times on the road.

Also, just because euros do something doesnt mean americans do. I would find it extremely rude exteremely!!! rude if someone was flashing their brights behind me. I wouldnt even know what they wanted, I would assume there was an accident ahead or maybe they were trying to warn someone about something. In Minnesota, people rarely honk their horns and they never flash their lights and traffic is more or less polite but of course there are the standard amount of people who try to abuse traffic and cut in line. I moved to Florida several years ago and I was astonished by how rude the drivers were, people honked their horns at every little thing and I am sure light flashing was common practice. In my opinion there is a certain level of courtesy that should be given in the road and speeding on someones butt and flashing your brights on and off is not one of those courteous maneuvers.

Getting a drivers license in the US is so easy they could start handing them out in the Corn Flakes packages instead.
I'm from Europe and let me tell you... getting a license is way harder and the tests are way tougher. it's a fact, just deal with it.
That was a minor part of my post that I really dont even care about and I can 'deal' with it, I was hoping there would be replies to the second part of my post which tackles the issue at hand.

Because his childhood dream was to be a police officer and it never materialized. The best he could do was rent-a-cop at the local mall, chasing down teenagers who leave their food wrappers on the table in the food court. So he tries to enact authority over other people any way he can, to compensate for his failed dreams and small penis.

There is no reason to tailgate me.

Well, if you'd been paying attention as they came up behind you and you moved over, they wouldn't be tailgating you.

And if the slow lane is going the same speed? You stay in the left lane out of principle? You realize that as much as there are speeding laws, many states also have "keep right, pass left" laws to prevent that ridiculous mentality?

Too bad the cops don't enforce that one.

You know, if you carry on with that mentality, one of these days you're gonna piss someone off to the point they drag you out your car and start punching you up you stupid little man.

Why would you want to anger and give motivation to people to do something like that? Prick! I hope someone teaches you a lesson one of these days.

I tend to go around people like you, get in front of you, then slow down to 45 mph. If you try to pass me I'll accelerate and prevent you from getting back in front. You'll regret acting like an ass.

You are breaking the law. If you're going to act like a stiff ass and try to act like a cop, you better obey the law. Otherwise you're just breaking the law like the people you're trying to stop, and you're being an ass on top of that.

Precisely... Assholes
qft... It's called the 'passing lane' for a reason. It is not one's personal cruise lane, it's there so people can pass, at whatever speed they may like, slower traffic.

People in general on the roads are a bunch of ***** fuckers. I took a four hour drive last weekend up to a cabin, and on the way there, there was this car in front of me that had an extremely low right front tire, almost to the point of the rim hitting the ground. I got up close behind them and was trying to point and signal to their tire, so they moved over, and when I pulled up next to them, I got a pair of middle fingers. Well, fuck you too. I hope you enjoy dying in a car crash.

I never flash my brights, but if someone actively attempted to prevent me from passing them, I'd flip on my brights and make sure to follow them around as long as I could, just to show them how pretty my headlights were. I'm sure that makes as much sense as trying to keep people from passing you or slowing down if there is someone behind you.

Whenever a car comes up behind me, I move over (if I'm not already in the right lane) and when I come up behind a car, I expect them to do the same. If they slow down, brake check me unreasonably, or lock speeds with the car next to them, they get to enjoy my brights. Seems like a fair trade to me :)

Secondly, on the speeding thing, the left lane is not for someone going 5mph over the speed limit. You are only supposed to use that lane to pass

The lane is for LEGAL passing.. If you are passing a vehicle that is going at or above the speed limit then it is not a legal pass.

This is not true. The law says that it is a passing lane, there is no asterisk stating "*only if they're going the speed limit".

If they are speeding, the police will deal with them. It is neither your job nor your ability to police the roads, and if the cops see you doing that, they'll deal with you harshly. You can make no such decisions about whether to allow someone to pass. You let them pass, or you're breaking the law.

As someone else mentioned, just because someone else is breaking the law doesn't mean that you get to as well.

I usually try to avoid such a move. However, if you tailgate me, you'll get a flash of my taillights instead. If you don't get off of me, I'll slow down even more or I'll push my left foot on the brake just enough to get the light while I'm accelerating.

If I'm on a non limited access highway (with left turn lanes, etc) and I'm at or above speed limit, fuck off if you flash me.

Exactly the right attitude, and exactly what I do. Safe, courteous driving means staying out of other peoples' ways.

Heh. I own a fast car, and am properly trained in how to drive it, not just for my own enjoyment, but also for the ability to deal with dangerous passive aggressive drivers like Jumpem and some others here. It's why I don't feel safe in a slow car, because these assholes will box you in, intentionally prevent you from passing, etc etc.

Driving habits like yours get you pulled out of your vehicle and get a beatin...not that I would do it...but I've seen it...and I wouldn't say it's not deserved.

Stay in the right lane if you want to drive the speed limit...you don't get to regulate how fast traffic goes...that for the men and women with the lights on their cars to do.

if both sides are going the speed limit that automatically doesn`t mean everyone should be on the right so the speeders can pass you on the left...lmao!!

Don't truckers flash their high beams as a signal of "ok to merge in"?
I saw this a lot on my move cross county.

I dunno what's more dangerous, dealing with passive aggressive drivers like Jumpem or dealing with just plain aggressive drivers like 91TTZ.
