portal 1 was much more challenging than portal 2. Though gameplay is still good, it only gets a little challenging when the paints are introduced into the game..

I guess I'm one of the few people who found P2 harder than P1... Not that it's too hard, but I remember P1 being a cakewalk.

Maybe one of the DLC's will be harder? I've also heard the coop is more difficult, although I haven't played it.

Personally I found the difficulty adequate enough to be interesting and I enjoyed the game much better than other games that have recently been released <cough> DNF <cough>. I'm looking forward to some P2 DLC.

I've played some amazing custom maps. Truly, if you guys are disappointed with the difficulty of the stock maps, you should try them out.

Portal 2 got a bit boring and exhausting in the middle where you are in the old building and basically looking for the furthest away portal-able wall after aiming at the tiniest speck on your monitor. But it picked up when i get back to British accent core.

and I love
the ending, best whimsical ending ever.

For me, Portal 2 got boring. After maybe 6 or 8 hours I finally stopped playing.

Unlike the original, I have no interest in finishing portal 2.

I dont know what it is, but the game just got boring.

The ending is VERY satisfying. You don't know what you're missing.

This. Very very much this. However I found the rest of the game quite satisfying as well. The goo stages were narrated perfectly and had me LOLing quite often. The end however was truly awesome.

Exactly. Portal 2 is a brand new game on the market and already modders are going to town on the game and a free DLC with 10 new levels is coming. If you are so stupid that you can't see the potential for complex level designs this game presents and Valve's commitment to modders then you deserve to just write off the game and go back to being spoon fed by some other developer.

Make sure you play the Co-op. Provides an extra 4 hours of fun (and tons of laughs @ yourself and your buddy)

The SP campaign was on rails with no (that I saw) opportunities for multiple solutions. I get it Valve, you want to sell to a console audience, OK OK. Still, I'm very much looking forward to some official DLC (that does not come in the form of gratuitous $4 MP hats) that makes the game a bit harder.

Storyline was disappointing in that it got all WACKY + ZANY.

There was at least one puzzle that I tried solving it apparently the wrong way and I broke the game. Pretty disappointing in that aspect.

Not sure why you blame the consoles again as the first one came out on consoles too. Seems to be the default BS excuse for PC gamers.

I can blame the consoles for everything and it'll mostly likely be true. So there!

The only thing I would really blame Valve for in aiming for consoles are the constant load screens everywhere. Oh, you finished a single challenge that took you 1 minute? Load screen. etc.

Valve designed Orange Box for PC and the console ports were handled by some nameless EA devs. Portal 2 was optimized for consoles by Valve themselves and planned for them from the start.

Just finished coop last night. Had a lot of fun. I'll run through it again with another buddy. Definitely had some moments where we were both scratching our heads wondering what to do.

I'm on chapter 8 in single player. I might finish that tonight or tomorrow. I like it more than the first game, probably just because of the added variety of blue/orange gel, light bridges, and the wavy blue floaty stuff.

See, that to me was by far the most interesting part of the game -- I was focused on looking for the ties Aperture has to the story in HL2, like searching for the Borealis dry dock and such. Plus I thought it was neat how you progressed through the company's history and different levels reflected the culture of the decade they represented.

Cave Johnson's observations throughout were a hoot, also.

See, I disliked the Cave Johnson ridiculousness. HL2 is set in a bleak, serious world... and yet Aperture science is a silly wacky company that makes bouncy gel and Moron AIs. Really? Boo.

Not all games can, or should, be the same even if they're put out by the same company. I'm glad that Portal, TF, Half Life, and L4D all have such different styles and feels. Cave Johnson was also by far the best part of Portal 2.

He does have a point in that Portal and Half-life are not just from the same company, they are part of the same story/lore. That being said, I greatly enjoyed the comical aspects of Portal 1&2.

Maybe that's why Black Mesa pulled ahead, Aperture was just too loony for its own good. ;)

I think some of the puzzles in Portal2 are more challenging from the perspective of just trying to figure out what the heck you have to do. But once you figure that part out, actually implementing the solution is relatively easier than Portal 1. I seem to recall more than a few maps in Portal 1 where you had to fall down through portals that sent you flying across a room where you then had to create another portal to go through while you were still flying, requiring pretty damned good aim without being able to take more than a second or two to line up the shot. Maybe I'm losing my touch in old age but I found those levels to be a pain.

The whole gel thing added a nice new element to the game, as did the reflective cubes.

I also thought Cave's comments were, overall, pretty funny. And the ending was good as well.

I picked the game up for $25 during some Steam sale and felt I got my money's worth (far more than the same $25 I paid for Duke Nukem Forever). I would seriously hesitate buying it for full price.

I got it for $25 on Steam as well. I think that's a good price for probably 10-12 hours of total gameplay between single player and coop. I haven't finished SP yet, so maybe I'll get more time out of it than I think.

I don't have a problem with the goofy storyline and characters. Just because HL2 is so serious doesn't mean everyone in the entire game universe has to be like that. You're in a relatively small, isolated area that would develop it's own feeling/mood.

Finally finished Portal 2 SP, not because it was hard, but because I only played a few levels at a time. Haven't really been in the mood for video games for awhile.

Anyway, was pretty cool.

I'm in chapter 4 now and I've only had to think about how to complete 2 levels so far. I remember playing portal 1 and had fun trying to figure out how to complete the level. so far this is just too easy.
There isn't much of a challenge. Its much easier than the first one. Still a fantastic game though. So far its my GOTY

I don't understand why people keep claiming Portal 1 was harder than the 2nd. It was a pretty easy game, personally, and only got somewhat challenging towards the end. Portal 2 seems like an extension of the final level in Portal 1, so it makes sense to me. The humor was pretty good and even though it's in the same universe as HL2 you're not fighting the combine, you're fighting insane A.I. and we all know how funny insane A.I. is.

The game wasn't worth 60 bucks though at launch. Not even close. It should have launched at 30 and gone down. It seems to be the perfect 15 or 20 dollar game.
