Good enough. The bolded can break you. Sales tax for me is 7%.

What would a average 1500 sq ft house run you there? May not be an easy answer. In my state, maybe starting at $75K. In N.Y or California, sky's the limit.

I live in the 2nd most expensive city in Denmark so buying a house central is pretty expensive, but if you move 20-30km out of the city they start at ~185K, but more than often 330K is needed to get a house that size.

I was making a hair over $38k at my last job, but I had to quit because it was driving me insane. Now I'm making $12 an hour while I consider going back to school for an advanced degree.

Live in Portland, OR. I do database work for non-profits.

Did you read his post?

He is a PM, go easy on him....;)

reminds me of my previous position...

PM: Send me the results of the previous project please.

Me: *sends results with detailed explanations*.

PM: I just see a sheet with numbers, I just need the results. No explanations or calculations needed.

Me: Scroll to the bottom of the excel sheet. Results are bolded and highlighted.

PM: Just send me the results for now on...

****following week****

PM: Send me the results of the previous project XXX please.

Me: *sends results with no explanation or calculations as he requested last time*

PM: I just see a sheet with the results. How come there are no calculations to back it up? Did you even put work into this? We are over budget, I hope you do not need to redo this.

Me: *sends modified excel project. One tab with just results, one tab with results and calculations*

PM: Gibson486, can you just send me the results in the email itself?

Me: *looking out the window...not high enough to jump*

You should move to the bay area. I work in developer support and make more than twice that.

probably wouldn't cover COL increase. housing in Pittsburgh is %40 that of SF or NYC.

can't wait to move there myself.

I used to work in consulting. Just out of curiosity, what level are you?
How much of that was bonus? In consulting, you never make that much base unless you are senior exec/partner/director level in my exp.

Director, ~50/50 base/bonus. The firm I work for now bases our compensation on billable hours (revenue).

Day job: Basically an IT Analyst for a medical system
Pay: ~$80K + benefits

Second job: small business owner/IT consultant and reseller of hardware/software/equipment
Pay: Highly variable - this year should be around $450K

Third job: Starting a new business not related to IT/tech. It is a franchise, that is all I will say
Estimated salary: Should be around $75K (I have a partner who gets the other $75K...again depends on sales and we are just in the process of opening)

Keeping the day job for stability and insurance. Woot!
