My algerbra teacher was a old black dude who we couldn't understand very well. His board notes were excellent though. My trig teacher was a liberal BS'er who turned our class into 6th grade all over again. Groupwork, extra credit, sh1t like that. :disgust:

I hate group work.

With a passion. Stupid peers still try and get the "smart" kid to do everything. Then when I told them I was still in high school, none of the dudes really talked to me. Some of the chicks said I was pretty cute, but I don't know if thats in a "like my little brother" way, or a "I want to jump your bones after class" way. Never really showed up enough 'cept during tests to find out.

We have to go to class. If I miss 6 MWF classes in a semester, I get dropped. It's a state rule, apparently.

Don't know what my IQ is on a "real" test. Took every internet IQ test I could find and got 140-160 on those.

I'm one of the laziest people I know. I was in gifted programs when I was younger. I got OK grades in school, I could have done better if I'd studied more, and actually did some of the assignments, but I always did really well in math/physics/chemistry when it was a subject I was interested in. At those times I got higher scores than valedictorian and salutorian of my class, val. went to harvard, and the twin salutorians went to UCLA, one of them is doing a master's in math right now, dunno about the other). I've always gotten pretty horrible grades in English, even though I read a lot. Hated writing essays. I took 8 AP tests by the time I finished high school, entered college as a sophomore, 5's in Chem and Calc I, 4's in US Hist, English, Bio, and Physics, 3's in Euro/World Hist and U.S. Govt. Hardly studied for any of those, except for chem and calc, was only motivated in those because I was competing against some of the people in those classes.

I think I'm even on the right/left brain thing, I'm good at logical thinking, math, comp. sci stuff, and I'm also pretty good at drawing and painting, I read a lot of classic literature, and I write (fiction type stuff, no essays).

One funny thing is that in elementary school I would procrastinate doing book reports, and the night before it was due I'd write a book report about a book that didn't exist, type it up, create a bibliography and everything, and I got A's on those.

Edit: oh ya. NO LYING.

Online tests don't count!

I dunno about online tests, if you take more than 1 online test from different webpages with different questions etc.. Seems like to me it's probably that number..

IQ tests on teh intarweb do not count.

I'm not sure what side of the brain I associate with more because I forgot which is which. I'm ADD; figure it out. :p

Completely false. Though Off Topic tends to attract members who more closely resemble Cro-Magnon man (intellectually speaking), there are a number of extremely intelligent individuals that post regularly, and certainly more found in other sections of the forum.

Pffft! Back in my teens, I took two "official" proctored tests. One trouble, though, was that the tests were badly mimeographed, so part of the challenge was figuring out what the questions were, but I got 160 on those, which was a bit below what I'd gotten on the ones I'd taken in psych class, but close enough.

I don't know that IQ bears much correlation to real-life success; back then I joined a few high-IQ societies and they seemed to be populated mostly by bright but flaky people. Then I let the memberships expire; it doesn't take too high an IQ to figure out that they don't actually serve any purpose besides collecting dues and giving you the occasional newsletter you can leave lying out in case you want guests to think, "oh, he has a high IQ."
I for one am not surprised by Trygve's score. I would have certainly counted him among the aforementioned group.

If it matters at all (it's just a number, after all), I've tested twice with Mensa-approved tests: first score was 153, and the second was 157.

I suppose I could average the two results, but that would likely involve some rather complex mathematics.

The poll is dumb though because of course everyone is going to put 150 or above.

According to a test I took when I was 8 years old: 137.
I don't want to take another test because I find it pointless.

Amen to that. IQ doesn't measure success or happiness at all. It is a totally pointless test because it only measures certain types of intelligence.

135 or so (mom can't remember exactly) @ 4 yrs old. I think it went up signifigantly in private school until the 6th grade @ which time I entered public school. It dropped lots after that and has been dropping ever since. At this point celery has more calories than I have IQ points.
