remember, Dasani/Aquafina is nothing more than the municipal supply coming into the Coke/Pepsi factories pushed through RO, nothing more.

it is purchased and consumed by suckers.

And yet it still tastes better than tap water around here... even filtered. It all depends on where you live.

and oh ya... ice mountain stuff is good too. :)

When I drove a truck over-the-road I had a 2Qt water jug I would have refilled when I stopped to eat. I was in Jacksonville, FL once and had the jug filled at the truck stop. As it happened, I only took one drink out of it... it was pretty nasty tasting. The next day I unscrewed the top to dump it out... and there was about an 1/8 of sandy sediment in the bottom...

Some bottled water may just be 'processed' municipal tap water... but at least it's filtered.

I drink tap water exclusively at home.

At work I use whatever comes out of the filtration system (the big water cooler jugs).

When I have bottled water, I generally just buy whatever's cheapest, though I dislike Evian quite a bit. It tastes oddly flat and kind of gross. I had one of those Ethos waters from Starbucks earlier today; it was delicious.

That tap water was filtered; it was filtered through sand.

Yup, that's bottled water all right.

I have bottles, a house, and a tap. My water tastes OK coming right out of the tap, but even if it didn't I would just get the proper filtration system plus a non-BPA-containing bottle to carry it around in.

Commercial bottled water is only reserved for those cases where you have no confidence in the safety of the local water supply. Using it in any other case is grounds for ridicule.

eh...do you think I actually meant that they were opening bottled water and pumping it into the municipal supply? :D

No, the municipal supply in Raleigh is pushed through RO, and final chemical composition out of the tap is pretty much identical to what you find in a bottle of Dasani. In any real direct comparison--that is exactly what you are drinking.

remember, Dasani/Aquafina is nothing more than the municipal supply coming into the Coke/Pepsi factories pushed through RO, nothing more.

No, I knew what you meant. I was just saying I knew they filled their bottles from a municipal supply in NY state; can't recall seeing a bottle with an NC location printed on it, but I wouldn't doubt that they've expanded 'production.'

The salt thing was in reference to their ingredients list of 'water, sodium chloride.' Google says a couple other things are in it, as well...I had thought that stuff was added by Dasani, but it appears those are just the trace minerals found in the tapwater, I guess.

Also...I can see people saying 'I still want a filter if I'm drinking tap water.' I don't think the tap water is going to do you any harm; but better safe than sorry, I guess.

But claiming there's a taste difference, even after a filter? Blah, shut it.

Wasn't there a place in Alabama or something where the water gave everyone cancer or some shit? D:

If you discount tapwater (which is understandable)...it's still absolutely retarded to have a 'preference' for bottled water.

I buy what's cheap. It's clean, potable fuckin' water. If some brand is 'better' because it has something in it...it's not water. It's a really shitty, watery, overpriced beverage for suckers.

I thought it was bottled in New York?

Either way, to be fair, the municiple water is not Dasani...you need to add some salt to it.

Make sure to call it electrolytes though, because salt doesn't look as fancy on the label.

The house I grew up at had the best tasting well water ever, but it was laden with sandstone, and we would have to change our filters quite frequently. Not sure what minerals were giving it the good taste, as we never had it tested. As noted, pure water has absolutely no taste, so trying to compare tastes of water is really comparing what is dissolved in the water. It is the universal solvent, after all.

I drink tap water now from Columbus Municipal source, and it is alright, but I always miss the taste of that well water from my childhood home. My "water bottle" when I am working is a 1 gallon jug from Kroger of either drinking water or an old milk jug, which I swap out after a couple weeks or so.
