You don't get Coke for 25¢ anywhere when you're out. You have $1 to spend, and it can be for some over-sweetened tea, sugary soda, or water. Water tastes different by brand, and compared to tap, so people can have preferences.

I generally don't like fountain pop loaded with ice, so when eating out I get water. It's not bottled, and it's free.

As far as different brands tasting different, never experienced it. See the video above, amazing how people can fool themselves.

Given those choices bottled water makes sense as it's has no sugar, flavorings, or calories but one could just pack along their own water for free if they don't mind hauling it around that is..

Which brand is on sale this week for $2.99 for a 24 pack or 30 pack?
That's the brand I drink. :)

I only buy it for the convenience. 90% of the time at home, I grab a glass & drink tap water (well water). It's very good water. I have a filter at the sink that sometimes I use, sometimes I don't. I have a case in the fridge that's at 32 degrees, when I want ice cold (without ice cubes.)

One less dirty glass to clean. And "waste" = recycling of them is required in NY - 5 cent deposit.

At least there's one other person in this thread with functioning taste buds anyway.

:D
massive CO2 and pollution per bottle.

Seriously, san pellegrino doesn't even taste that good. The tap water is tastier at least here.

I don't need to watch a video to know water tastes different. I've seen the "flavors" in them when they come out of suspension. Different minerals flavor water differently. Whatever they add to the soda brands of water gives it a /hard/ edge, whatever that means. I prefer not to buy them if I have a choice, but they're ok if I don't want sugar.

One of the best waters I had was Brickhouse, from MD. It was $1 a gallon when I bought it. This thread got me to look them up, and it appears they're no longer in business. The page is parked at GoDaddy. It tasted like mountain spring water; nice and soft, with a good mouth feel.

I really like the taste of San Pellegrino, funny how tastes differ like that. :p

I don't really care how healthy it is, I drink an order of magnitude more of beer so it's not really an issue. :D

Where did I say that? I drink Coke (25 cents a can in 12 packs), and I don't drink alcohol, but is there somewhere those can be had for free? Like water?

Amazing stupidity.

So ultimately you're calling people stupid for buying a different fizzy drink to you.

By and large I use tap water with a PuR filter. Pretty sure my building is less than a decade old so the pipes are in good shape. I had a case of bottled Nestle Pure Life bought when I moved in, half of it is still unused. That was in September.

Most bottled water to me has a bitter taste to it. I think Fiji was the least objectionable but it's too expensive.

Are you really that bad at reading comprehension? Buy whatever fizzy drink you want. I clearly said people are stupid for paying for water, a free resource.

Wow you really want to take the judgemental thing as far as you can dont you?

What % of coke is water do you think? You want to work out how much per gram you're paying for the dry ingredients? Still want to talk value?

I tend to only buy bottled water when I'm out on the road/traveling... and in those cases, it really doesn't make much difference outside of the fact that I dislike mineral water and anything carbonated/"sparkling"

so, whatever is cheapest or on sale.

Camelbak + tap water.

I'm lucky that my tap water is one of the cleaner ones around and doesn't taste like anything. I've traveled plenty and found tap water to be very hit or miss, more often miss.

I haven't bought into the " Bottled Water " fad thing. Water from the tap works very well. Plus it is very inexpensive.

San Pellegrino's fucking awesome., I tried to make it flavored by adding like 50 Icebreaker sour watermelon mints. Was reeeeal good, but I later found out the IceBreakers contain Xylitol which leads to WTFBBQ shats if you ingest too much. I've never shat like that in my life, also causes crazy stomach pains lol.

It's my new favorite drink probably, I drink 3-4 bottles a day, tastes great imho and as an added bonus I get 12% of my daily Calcium from 1 of the liter bottles. I went thru probably 4 cases of the liter bottles last month. Only problem is, most places don't carry it. So when I'm out I can't always find it. After drinking it it's hard to go back to any other water, even something good like Fuji or Voss.

I drink bottled water because I drink way more that way. For some reason I just won't drink much from a sink and cup. Costs way more, but it's convenient and healthier than how I act without bottled water.

Your body knows that it's fucking bad for you. Plenty of cities have disgusting tap water with a ton of chlorine, heavy metals, volatile compounds, traces of radiation, pharmaceutical drugs, toilet paper - not to mention the junk from the numerous pipes the water has traveled through to reach your tap. I've drank bottled water (usually from the places where you can fill up jugs outside grocery stores) my entire life and I can detect a taste difference between bottled and bad tap water, even tap water that people who drink it say tastes fine to them.

People should stop making sweeping statements that buying bottled water is stupid and that tap water is fine. It depends on the quality of your tap water. Tap water in the large cities in Texas, for example, is pretty bad. I visit relatives in Oregon and they have some of the best damn tap water I've tasted, non-fluoridated, tested good quality, and from the mountains.

In some places it's damn near imperative to buy bottled water.
