BMI - 25.8
5'10" - 180

I would have to get down to 173 to be "normal". I dont think it is going to happen.

BTW, A year ago, I used to be 32.3

BMI is really not accurate for many.

At less than 10% BF I show up as clinically obese.

nice dude nice
i know you lift but its still funny

That was actually a while ago, I haven't gotten back into lifting since I tore out my elbow early last year...it's only recently healed. 6 months of physical therapy.

BMI - 29.6
5'8" 195 lbs

BMI is so bogus it's not even funny. To get to a BMI of 25, which is the top of the "normal" zone, I'd have to weigh 164. I've weighed that before, but that was prior to my last growth spurt, grew half an inch and widened out my frame in college. 175 might be the lowest I can go and still look reasonably healthy, but 180 is my target. I have weight to lose, but I'd have to drop significant muscle mass to get down to that. At this point, I've almost worked off my beer gut, and I'm still only at 195. Consider that I only gain weight around my midsection and I'd say my fat loss is near complete. It's a good guideline for normal builds, but pretty worthless for anyone with a thicker frame or w/ any sort of muscle mass.

Hell, if I got down to 164, I think people would start to worry about me.

Supposed to be 175 according to my Dr. but i've been that in college & I looked like a scarecrow :(

Oh well, better that than dying from being a fatty I guess :(

Don't know how accurate this is though since I got back from a run and looking down I can clearly see my 6-pack

It's worthless for athletes or other people with muscle since muscle weighs more than fat.

25.4 here. I'm 14% Bodyfat which isn't great but it's still in the recommended range for men.

BMI index sucks for weightlifters. When I was into lifting when I was younger, I weighed 195 at 6'2 with only 9 % BF (which is slightly out of shape but fairly muscular), yet BMI showed as 25.
Since when is 9% BF slightly out of shape?

When I was at 9 % I was biking to work every day, so 45 minute of biking 5 days per week, plus lifting 3 times per week for an hour to hour and a half. My brother was at 4 % BF, that's what I would consider to be ideal BF and it was what I was shooting for; at 9 % I still had a little bit of flab around the midsection and I couldn't ever quite seem to hit that bodybuilder look with the 6-pack abs and all that. My arms, shoulders and legs looked muscular but my belly still looked slightly flabby.

you more than likely weren't at an accurate 9%

To the other poster that was 5'8" and 195....unless you are a bodybuilder, chances are you have more than a beer gut.. That's pretty heavy for even a thick framed dude.

Most people are surprised how much weight they can lose once they really get in shape.

Wii Fit called me overweight, which is true. I'm 10-15 pounds heavier than I'd like. 5'10.5" 180lbs. But I've been hitting the gym, and eating much better. I don't expect it to take very long to lose the weight.
