What's with all the Splice commercials?

they are trying to create a buzz about it because they know it will fail at the box office. Get as much money as they can for the opening week and the movie will just disappear with no more ads for it.

Awful movies need a lot of hype. It works as much as it fails, and when it works it brings in huge amounts of money. Hollywood isn't bad at tricking people. I wanted to say stupid people, but I've paid $8 to see some terrible movies.

Its a mediocre movie that the producers and distributors fear will do poorly at the box office so they are spending more money on the perceived failure in a vain attempt to beg for reimbursement for their waste of money in making the flick. 😀

Early reviews at IMDB have it pretty highly rated (7.8/10) and RT has it at 63%. Not bad for a "shitty" movie.

I have quite a few friends who are going to see it at midnight. It's summer and I don't work until 10 tomorrow so I'll probably pregame and go watch it. Should be interesting drunk... Kinda like the new Freddy crouger movie was. Except I had to be in class the next morning. Good times in college.

It's not up against anything real big at the moment.

btw notice that Dr. Rodney McKay from Atlantis is in it?

Hmm. It's already won a best special effects award from the Catalonian International Film Festival back in Oct. 2009, and was nominated for best picture

So, it might not be a terrible movie.

i didn't know that.

i saw the ad and i thought "this looks like it could be pretty sweet, actually". my gf and i are gonna see it.

they are spending a lot of money on advertising , it will do ok , these kinds of movies do better after they come out of the theatres

Looked somewhat interesting to me. The premise is so far out there that there has to be some good writing and character development to carry the movie. I think it depends on how well developed the genetically engineered critter's part is. If it can be an actual memorable character rather than just "the monster" there is hope.

Can you blame them:
