Dumb statement. They have hated us for years. The weak always hate strength because they fear it. They fear it because they see how it has been used throughout history and imagine how they would use it. Politicians are people who love power; the ultimate power is over life and death. People who lust for power have to get it from the people they have power over. It can't be taken, but has to be yielded. Most people would be quick to point out that they hate our government, not us. Tne current hate by muslims has been going on toward people for hundreds of years. That hate is taught to them by people who lust after power and who know they can't have it as long as we stand. They really hate us because they see us as either christian or jewish - not understanding that we are all or neither. Most of the peoples who are now terrorist were with Germany in WWII. European historians say that the hatred of the west by the middle east goes back to the failure to take Vienna.
The French just hate everyone else!
Most of them love us more when we are weak and they don't fear us.
Another issue that is a streatch is that the middle east must know that oil will only be king for another 30 to 50 years. They have nothing else to offer. They know that they won't be able to afford Mercedes and Toyotas then, can't build them and won't be able to feed themselves. One of the important things they don't seem to grasp is contraception. If they don't have oil, how will they feed the population?
Total propoganda.
They don't hate us for our freedoms. They hate us because we are trying to take thier freedoms.
they, don't hate us for our freedoms, or because we guarantee women the "right" to an abortion, or because Queer Eye for the Straight Guy was such a big hit, but because of our policies in the Middle East and elsewhere, which they see as a war aimed at the eradication of Islam. In this context, as Scheuer puts it:
"The military actions of al-Qaeda and its allies are acts of war, not terrorism; they are part of a defensive jihad sanctioned by the revealed word of God, as contained in the Koran, and the sayings and traditions of the Prophet Mohammed, the Sunnah. These attacks are meant to advance bin Laden's clear, focused, limited, and widely popular foreign policy goals."
Scheuer goes on to list instances in which American foreign policy has resulted in oppression, economic exploitation, and mass death for millions of Muslims from Morocco to Malaysia:
U.S. support for Israel that keeps Palestinians in the Israelis' thrall
U.S and other Western troops on the Arabian peninsula
U.S. occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan
U.S. support for Russia, India, and China against their Muslim militants
U.S. pressure on Arab energy producers to keep oil prices low
U.S. support for apostate, corrupt, and often tyrannical Muslim governments
Michael Scheuer Or better yet just ask a Muslim sometime instead of judging thier "feeling"
