hey SD ppl, what to do in Mission Beach?

also, from what I read from some tourist information site, Balboa Park requires admission fee? Does it worth it coz the site said it is 30 bucks (plus a promotional coke can I can get into Six Flags Magic Mountain!)

well, checked again, 30 bucks is for the 12 musems and the Japanese Garden they have. so which one is cool to check out?

In Mission Beach, you have Belmont Park... and a beach.

@ Belmont Park, there are a couple small rides and a rollercoaster. Pretty fun place to just chill.

TJ sucks. Don't waste your time. I've lived in SD for 7 years now and I haven't been down there once since moving here. There is no reason for anyone over the age of 21 to drive to TJ unless you are going down there for presciptions.

Anytime I see other people beside myself recommend TJ as a place to visit, I know he knows that I know of what we're talking about.

LOL.

okay, here's my plan.

Sunday:
Goto one of the Winery (Oalifo?) in North County
Wild Life Zoo
Dinner at either La Jolla's Hard Rock Cafe OR somewhere in Mission Beach OR GasLamp

Monday
that speed cirucit racetrack somewhere in Mira Mesa
check out Cornordo Island, check out old downtown, check out Balboa Park, OR...
skip them all and head to the SD Fair.
Dinner at either La Jolla's Hard Rock Cafe OR somewhere in Mission Beach OR GasLamp

how's that?

You're going to spend a lot of time in the car.

I saw your thread about driving to Cali.
Are you single ?? If you are, you should check out TJ.
If you're serious, PM me, I'll recommend a site with all kind of info.
You only need to be 18 🙂

1) your PM is off
2) nah, its alright, I had a bad experience in Rosarito once; so I rather stay within the borders 🙂

If you can, go hang around Old Town a bit too. Southeast of I-10 and I-5 junction. Oh, and the cliffs by Ocean Beach are very nice. South of the Mission Beach area. I'm going to put a bit more emphasis on the Horton Plaza in the Gaslamp district of downtown too. The appearance of that mall/square is really cool.

yeah, I been to Horton Plaza before, pretty cool place. I've toured around Gaslamp, but the feeling I get from that place is a very mature/adult/grown-up environmental, not too well for me the I-want-to-see-boobies college-type person 🙂

All of the stuff you guys are recommending are borrrrring unless you're with a GF or something.
If you're a single or are with other guys, my suggestion is best 🙂

yes, i'd agree, but apparently, I will be accompanied by someone special 🙂 😛

anyways, got your pm, but I can't reply, (i guess you have to ALSO turn on the "iwant to get reply' feature too), so here go:

thanks, you devil. 😛 😛

t.j.'s alright. kind of overrated. i would know also, i was just there yesterday 😀. besides the fact i had some awesome chicken, nothing really to write home about. and the best t.j. story i have is my drunk friend pissing his pants when waiting to cross the border. but hell, he can do that stateside also. but you gotta go at least once, just to say you've been.

speed circuit in mira mesa isnt bad. was just there a week and a half ago. kinda pricey, so here's a coupon. print it out, take it up with ya when you go to pay.

sd fair should be a good time, as always. i prolly wont go this year, as its pretty much been the same thing year after year, but if you've never been, its a good way to kill a day. i also liked another post'ers suggestion to stick up in north county. thats where i feel best at, and its a good enough atmosphere, and isnt quite as expensive as lower san diego. enjoy your time guys!

cool, thanks for the coupon. I guess I will spend a day in Stone Brewery instead 😛 🙂

nothing really to write home about
I think you do not want to write anything home about TJ period. 🙂

...unless your one of my odd-relatives who is fan of the donkey shows... different strokes for different folks i guess.

Hey, I'm 37 with a wife and kid...give me a break. If you don't like my suggestions then do something else.

TJ is a great place to get hassled by the Federales if you do something like make a left turn when your not supposed to or break any minor traffic law. Yes, you can be robbed of hundreds even thousands of dollars by corrupt Mexican Officials who will think nothing of throwing your dumb ass in jail for no friggin' reason at all. Sounds like great advice to me...

I've driven through and spent time in TJ on south about 100 miles. You really begin to get an appreciation of a place like this when you are going to dinner and pass through a check point with 4-5 armed Federales with automatic rifles.

Don't expect to have any rights down there. They want your money and they despise you for having it.

I can't agree anymore, that's exactly what happened to me and my friends and many unfortunate others. i will never drive there with my car again..

however, that doesn't prevent me from going there thru a tour bus 🙂
