What's there to see or do in/near San Diego?

I want to plan a trip to San Diego and I want to know where I can take my lady besides the obvious Seaworld and San Diego Zoo. Basically a weekend trip - get there friday nite and leave sund afternoon.

Any recommendations as to where to stay? By the ocean would be nice. Also, someone told me that they visited this field of flowers and its near SD. Anyone has an idea where that it?

I was thinking about sightseeing in the day then going on the Hornblower Dinner Cruise in San Diego. Anyone recommend that? Thanks for any help.

La Jolla Coves, Tide pools, Gaslamp district, Petco Park (brand-new baseball stadium), indian casinos, Seaport Village, Mission Beach, Belmont Park. Bike around Coronado.

Hotel Del Coronado is a nice hotel to stay, but pricey.

Field of flowers? What's next? Visiting the Judy Garland library? Who wears the pants in this relationship? Take her to watch a Chargers training camp session!

carlsbad. off palomar airport road. take 5 north, its about 25-30 min. out from san diego. exit right* on palomar airport road, and you'll see it. cant miss it, on your left hand side. karl strauss brewery nearby also.😀

edit: also, i second the hotel del cornado. ill offer more suggestions/ideas in a bit, off work in a few...

i also enjoy old town. shopping, historical surroundings, and it also has my favorite restaurant, casa de pico.

if your of age, downtown is fun also. gaslamp quarters, horton plaza mall, and its all right next to the beach.

if your want to be up towards north county, carlsbad has a few nice clubs/restaurants, and if you start up in oceanside on the 101, you can drive down and see the beach from the road all the way down to san diego.

if you come from june 11th to july 5th, you can go to the very popular and time consuming san diego fair (formerly the del mar fair). concerts, food, arts and crafts, rides, you can spend a good chunk of the day there. check out the site for a lot more information.

thats some info, if you need any more information or for me to elaborate on anything or give recommendations, feel free to ask. ive lived all over this city, so, hope this information is beneficial for ya. and enjoy yourself, this is america's finest city!

Seriously... jeez, take her to the beach and just relax. That's the funniest thing i've ever heard. Spend the least amount of site seeing possible and just chill out at the beach. The beaches in San Diego own most other beaches in CA.

1.) warmer water
2.) don't have to drive through mountains

PB or Ocean Beach is pretty sweet.

My brother and his friend are driving there from NY (to live permanently) as we speak. I think he was up to Kentucky last night. Crazy kids.

RH71, which is Jessica Alba's "hottest pic to date"? Are the pics numbered? 😀

I'll be in SD this weekend too, taking my GF for a visit. Haven't been to SD since 1994.

Cheers,

oooh balboa park is always fun to walk through, and of course i'm a big fan of the zoo. like everyone said, seaport village, horton plaza, gaslamp, last time i drove through i saw this huge ass WWII battleship which i forgot what it was called and i have no idea if they give tours or not but its pretty darn cool.

of course, the beaches in SD are nice. and if you dare, go to petco and watch the padres.

Are the most recent ones listed on Page 1 or the last page? I'm at work, can't check it out 'til I get home.

hey SD ppl, what to do in Mission Beach?

also, from what I read from some tourist information site, Balboa Park requires admission fee? Does it worth it coz the site said it is 30 bucks (plus a promotional coke can I can get into Six Flags Magic Mountain!)

well, checked again, 30 bucks is for the 12 musems and the Japanese Garden they have. so which one is cool to check out?

balboa park doesnt have an admission fee, but the museums there do. admission to the museums are pretty cheap. My guess is that the 30 dollars will get you into EVERYTHING they have.

Last time I went they had a tortue museum!

Flower fields are out of season right now. That's in Carlsbad (which is right near where I live). Best time to see them is end of March beginning of April.

Unless you want to see a field of dirt. 😀

Six Flags is like 3 hours north of here.

NM, my reading comprehension is teh suxors today...😀

The Gas Lamp District is nice in downtown San Diego. Lot's of places to eat and night hotspots. There's also seaport village near downtown.

Hornblower dinner cruise is nice.

If you like Sushi, try Tomiko in Encinitas. I prefer North County, much more low key but still plenty to do and lots of good restaurants. There are some nice hotels in Carlsbad and of course there's always LaCosta Resort and Spa.

... unless you're over 21. Why anyone would choose to go to third world craphole TJ instead of SD when they're in the area is beyond me. SD even has better mexican food (with tacos made of steak, not stray dog)

if you want some world-class italian food, try ciao bella in la mesa.
