By far, the most frightening game i've ever played was Thief 3. If you've ever played this game, you'd probably agree. There was a point where I simply ran out of my room screaming, and I couldn't start the game again for a few days cause I was still frightened. Considering that this isn't a game thats supposed to be scary, this is saying quite a lot.

Under that would be the original Unreal (there were a few spooky moments), and System Shock 2 simply for the fear of being so, so alone in that damned spaceship. The original DOOM also did a number on me back in the day.

DOOM3 was a complete joke. There was nothing scary about it. I haven't played through FEAR yet, but from what I saw in the demo, I was very unimpressed.

havent played fear because of comp limitations (see sig for obvious reasons), and HL2 wasnt that scary for me.

I'm playing Condemed: Criminal Intent right now and it is pretty scary.

However, while not the scariest game "overall", the scariest sequence I've ever been through in a game was the haunted mansion in Vampire: Requiem (I think that's the title... I know there were several vampire games). I've never been so scared in my gaming experience.

While playing Wolfenstein 3D with the volume on louder than I thought it was, I got surprised by a guard shouting "Spion" or something in German, and I about jumped out of my chair.

doom three scared me...i quit playing and sold it.

I have a quiet office downstairs with surround sound...turn of the lights and i will be running upstairs

Eh, I dunno. I'll admit that the atmosphere in the beginning of the Cradle was very dark and brooding, but once the combat actually started and the zombies started spawning, it became almost comedic.

LOL same thing happened to me. whats weirder is that my chest was like throbbing to his machine gun shots it felt weird.
