I thought it would be a corny and retarded game, but Fatal Frames is easily the scariest game I've ever played, and ever will play. I only played it for an hour and I never touched it again. I just couldn't do it.

I've never played Fear, but I'll put one in for ClockTower for the PS.

I'm not sure if that's the correct name for the game, but it's basically you runnign away from a guy with giant hedge-clippers.

d3 smacks FEAR for six in the scary stakes, played by yourself in the dark with 5.1, imo at least ;)

Just finished FEAR tonight.

I guess its the first "scary" game I have played on the PC, parts of it really creeped me out.

Funny thing is that is exactly what I did.... Finished HL2 like last week but still contemplating going back and playing F.E.A.R.

The original Alien versus Predator for PC when you play the marine. Played it in the dark and the game is very dark and reproduces the sound FX from Aliens nicely. The lack of a soundtrack like the Aliens movie made exploring a bit scary. The first thing that happens in the game is a steam vent bursting, scared the crap outta me. Then you have to kill aliens while scared. Quite a rush.

System Shock 2. Those damn Cyborg Midwives. And the little touches. First game I'd ever played where running across your erswhile shipmate's body after his hasty, improvised suicide was a distinct possibility.

Half-Life, Half-Life 2, Doom 3

Probably HL2 wins that one for me.

Edit: Ravenholm scared the flying fuck out of me.

I hate face huggers. I've played through both the alien and predator campaigns multiple times, but quit playing the Marine campaign as soon as those bastards appeared.

System Shock 2 also gave me a number of jumps.
