What's the oldest component in your computer, and how much did it originally cost (if you remember)?

probably my vodoo 3 2000 I got for 90$ I think(I remember it was a fourth of july sale). or maybe my 2nd hard drive, 5 gig, Don't know the cost.

oldest:
soundblaster live oem - 65 usd
nokia 445pro - from hot deal forum a while back

newest:
gold sample 4200/128mb - 225 usd first day it came out on newegg

My DVD-ROM, a Cendyne 12x Hiatchi(sp?). Christmas gift, so technically it's free.😉

well i got my bernoulli drive, has to be a decade old at least........40 glorious megabytes. every once inawhile someone brings in something for my parents (graphic artists) to open on bernoulli, just keep it hooked up to one of the shop's machines....sigh.

The oldest and most expensive component I have bought is a Plextor 8/4/32 CDRW drive, it cost $185 from buy.com. I sit here in awe on how the heck I could afford that 2 years ago. It boggles my mind, I got away with buying a $185 drive yet I can't even buy a $57 car now(see thread here).

Edit: Adding a VooDoo3 2000 PCI video card, bought it about last year for $20 or $30. Bought it because I needed a video card for my Andara barebone and it was the cheap enough for me. The card must be from a while ago.

Does my 4-way parallel manual switchbox count? Got it for $20 at BB in 1997. Otherwise, it's my collectors' QUANTEX case (modded).

that would be my 8.4 gig western digital. Hey it still works, so why not 😉 Note that it is the only hard drive in the computer . . .
came when I bought a micron like 4 years ago . . . don;t remember what they ran then . . .but I remember buying a 6.4 gig maxtor for around $130 close to the same time . . .

ibm model m keyboard
D.O.B. april 27, 1987 😱
and, yes this has been in use constantly since it came with one of those IBM comps (dont even ask me what it was)
i think this is the oldest one we have, i'll have to check my dad's to be sure.

my dad has an adaptec 2940UW with a 1995 bios date on it.
my seti machine has the same model card with a 1996 bios date on it. both are plenty old also 🙂

A 20Gb IBM Deskstar 34Gxp, has been rma'ed oce though so it's not fully the original drive. Cannot remember the price too.

Second oldest is my PlexWriter 8/4/32A, still works like a champ after more than 2 years, it cost about 300$ when I got it (cannot remember the exact price).

the oldest component still in my main pc right now would have to be a 256mb stick of pc2100 ddr ram...that and my 1.4 tbird are the only things left from the original specs🙂

edit: btw..i paid 30 bucks for the RAM and 120 bucks for the tbird

The oldest component in my main box is a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz sound card. It cost 60 odd dollars with shipping.

My 19" Hitachi Superscan 753 monitor. I bought it brand new from Buy.com when they had that price mistake so the price was $164 - $46 (class action lawsuit against buy.com settlement).

ummm, all the stuff in my case is less than 3 months old... except my hard drive. i have had this 30 gig 7200 rpm maxtors for over a year now, and it originally cost $99.

my case is the oldest component. i think it is 2 years old this september... its a 300w antec i bought from compusa for $99 when i built my 900 tbird.

The oldest piece of hardware I still use (in my game server) is an IBM DeathStar 22GXP 20GB HD. It came in my $3500 Alienware (and that was without the monitor) I bought almost 4 years ago because I was an idiot. 😱
