The oldest and most expensive component I have bought is a Plextor 8/4/32 CDRW drive, it cost $185 from buy.com. I sit here in awe on how the heck I could afford that 2 years ago. It boggles my mind, I got away with buying a $185 drive yet I can't even buy a $57 car now(see thread here).

Edit: Adding a VooDoo3 2000 PCI video card, bought it about last year for $20 or $30. Bought it because I needed a video card for my Andara barebone and it was the cheap enough for me. The card must be from a while ago.

Does my 4-way parallel manual switchbox count? Got it for $20 at BB in 1997. Otherwise, it's my collectors' QUANTEX case (modded).

came when I bought a micron like 4 years ago . . . don;t remember what they ran then . . .but I remember buying a 6.4 gig maxtor for around $130 close to the same time . . .

D.O.B. april 27, 1987
and, yes this has been in use constantly since it came with one of those IBM comps (dont even ask me what it was)
i think this is the oldest one we have, i'll have to check my dad's to be sure.

my dad has an adaptec 2940UW with a 1995 bios date on it.
my seti machine has the same model card with a 1996 bios date on it. both are plenty old also :)

A 20Gb IBM Deskstar 34Gxp, has been rma'ed oce though so it's not fully the original drive. Cannot remember the price too.

Second oldest is my PlexWriter 8/4/32A, still works like a champ after more than 2 years, it cost about 300$ when I got it (cannot remember the exact price).

My 19" Hitachi Superscan 753 monitor. I bought it brand new from Buy.com when they had that price mistake so the price was $164 - $46 (class action lawsuit against buy.com settlement).

The oldest piece of hardware I still use (in my game server) is an IBM DeathStar 22GXP 20GB HD. It came in my $3500 Alienware (and that was without the monitor) I bought almost 4 years ago because I was an idiot.
