Football (soccer). Poll is missing cricket, tennis, motor racing (Formula 1 and others), boxing etc.

And the combined populations of those countries is less than the USA. People who say that Europeans watch soccer are ignoring the fact that America is twice as big as Europe. Even if everyone in those countries watched soccer, it would still be less watched than the Super Bowl.

Also Dallas Cowboys are easily as famous as Manchester United worldwide.

Those countries maybe, but the population of the whole of Europe is easily double that of the US. It's hard to measure since several countries (most notably Russia) are in both Europe and Asia, but even if you only count countries that are entirely inside Europe, you still get nearly 600 million people. Add in the parts of Russia, Turkey, Kazakhstan, etc. that are inside Europe and it's over 700 million.

That said, there are a lot fewer TVs in Africa, Central/South America, and large parts of Asia, so the number of viewers in those continents is going to be really low compared with the number of players and the total population. That also depends on what you mean by a "viewer" - is it someone who watches games regularly? Only occasionally? It's hard to say.

anyone who doesn't say soccer is wrong.

doesnt matter whether you like it or not, but soccer is by far the most popular/watched/played sport in the world.

Worldwide yes, not in our country. I don't watch that sht but love NFL, MLB, and NHL. The rest of the world will eventually come around once they achieve our standard of living.

True, notice how countries that are poor are the ones that like soccer? Soccer is popular in the third world not because they like it but because they can't afford first world sports like football. I bet people around the world are demanding to watch the NFL but have to settle for soccer because of poverty. Every country that can afford sports other than soccer does so and moves onto more evolved sports.

This post does nothing but confirm the OP is a troll and the thread is a troll.

Those freaking English, French, Italians and Spaniards... with their poor demographics and their poor sport of soccer.

I didn't realize Europe was full of poor countries.

I think we've been trolled guys. No one can possibly be this oblivious to reality.

neckarb with 2nd account.

There is NO WAY he could resist a thread like this and he hasn't posted in it yet.
Add on top of that the obvious (stupid) troll hoping that us dumb yanks would say "AMERICAN FOOTBALL!!!" over soccer, and I think the case is closed.

??? Outside of N. America, no one demands the NFL. You do know that NFL Europe failed and closed down a few years ago right? The NFL has to have preseason and a regular season game in London to promote the game not b/c it's demanded.

The fact that you didn't play auto racing in your poll shows you don't know much outside of this country.

How is it trolling to say that soccer is popular because it is cheap and that third world countries like soccer? No country with options other than soccer likes soccer: USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand. All first world wealthy countries and all see soccer for what it is: a boring old-fashioned sport that is too boring for today's fast paced, hard hitting big scoring first world audience.

Soccer is only watched during world cup, other than that the NFL is the richest sport league in the world and the most watched. The Super Bowl is themost watched sport event annually.

There is so much wrong and incorrect and illogical in this post I don't even know where to start.

Because you know its true. Saying soccer is the most watched sport because of world cup is like saying sprinting is the most watched sport because of the olympics. On an annual basis, the NFL is the most watched sport in the world. It only ceases to be that once every four years, when a huge mass of third world countries watch soccer world cup because they can afford soccer and because they can't compete with us in real football.

I'm sorry, but this is pretty much common knowledge, ask any guy in any sports bar in America and he will tell you the same.

Frankly, you are correct.

Soccer is for poor people
