~105 in a Chevy Tahoe. Speedometer listed 120, but every time I hit ~105 it kicked me back down to 98-100.

No, I wasn't in trouble.
Back in 2k I got together with a few other riders, one of which was a NH state trooper and went to a closed road he knew of and we did top end runs. He had a radar gun to verify speed.
Highest ticketed speed? 85 in a 65 mph zone, ironically also in NH.

My friend is all pale in the face seeing a gun drawn and studders out that he was afraid of getting in trouble for having a pack of cigs and being under 18 (my brother was over 18).

Damn governors, I had a Buick Regal that did that. Car had a ton of power in reserve, but that governor was like hitting a wall.

What truck do you have? (engine, transmission, year, cab, bed length...)
A 4.7+5 speed 2WD gen 3 Dakota like mine does what I listed, the same in a late model Ram does 16.8, gen 3 R/T Dakota 15.2-15.4, Hemi Ram QC 15.65. QC SRT10 Ram mid to upper 14's. (why they made that I have no idea...)

Personally I got clocked at 206 in a 30 (that is mph). I was in my McClaren F1. Cop let me off with a warning.

Haha, yeah I was 17 at the time and figured out the whole governor concept/implementation b/c of it. I was/am beyond car retarded, so this was actually a learning experience for me.![]()

It's big and slow. 01 F150 super cab, 6' box, 4x4 5.7l V8 4spd auto. It's rigged for towing so it really doesn't have great acceleration. I'm thinking it's probably slower through the trap then your truck is, especially given the 5000lb+ weight.
