Oblivion is No.1 so far, in my book ...
... and that's 'cause i just now found this thread. :p

Gothic 3 is shaping up to be my 2nd favourite game ... but then i played Oblivion for 1,196 more hours ... i am just starting G3 ... but so far -- it is awesome -- who knows?, it might take first.
:Q

B&W2 [patched] is holding 2nd place until i decide about Gothic3 ;)
[its Xpack is '06 but is somewhat buggy]

DM M&M is pretty good ... 1/4 way thru

FEAR XPack and NWN2 are too buggy for me to even play.
:disgust:

... and i HATED Gun

This year, I enjoyed: Civilization IV, The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion, Hitman: Blood Money. I also replayed the original Deus Ex and despite the aging graphics, it still f'in rocks. Half Life 2: episode 1 was good (make sure to play HL 2 first though), but WAY WAY WAY too short, so don't spend more than $10 for it. FEAR is worth mentioning for the excellent graphics engine and being creepy, but the game is more stressful than fun...

Prey, but it wasn't worth 60 bucks.

Wait, I forgot about HL2:E1. Episode 1 is the best game I've played this year, on the PC.

Don't play games much (old computer and law school)

what kind of specs does your box have? I was interested in Flight Sim X, but was curious about performance on an older machine.
Flight Simulator X has mulitiple graphics settings: minimal, very low, low, medium low, medium high, high, ultra high, and custom. I play the game at medium high (or sometimes medium low if I'm flying at low altitudes over a large city). Ultra high looks really pretty, but you won't achieve a decent frame rate on even the most powerful of computers.

Titan Quest..reminds me of the good old Diablo 2 days when I wouldn't sleep for what seemed like days..

Toca Race Driver 3 has been fun

Flatout2

And not from this year but I found my GTA San Andreas DVD again and have been playing that quite a bit

Company of Heroes is high on my list.

Is Oblivion this year?

Dark Messiah is also good although not #1.

So, call me a RTS fan, but Company of Heroes and Medieval 2: Total War are the two best games I think.

Yeah, I've got:
AMD Athlon XP 1800+
512 MB RAM
8500LE 128 MB

I keep the setting on low and it works good....keep ground detail to very low. I tried higher, and had serious issues...

Call of Juarez was the best fps I played this year..

That came out already?

I assume you are talking about Call of Juarez.. Yes it is released some time now and it's an excellent fps in terms of gameplay, gfx and new elements introduced in a fps imho..

Tough call between HL2:Ep1 and Oblivion, but I'll give it to Oblivion for the large amount of time I spent playing that game.
