Make sure. As in, make ABSOLUTELY sure. As in, ensure in whatever way possible that it is not a false positive.

If I test absolutely positive, then: make a will, nice and legal. Get rid of my garbage. Boot-n-nuke then reinstall Windows on my PCs. Make sure everything's in order. Set a bunch of money aside. Then: suicide, in a fashion that spills no blood, semen, spinal fluid, etc. Like, pills or hanging or something. Make sure somebody knows it's happened, make sure the coroner knows I'm HIV+, have in my will that I want to get cremated in a simple, cheap coffin. That money I set aside? Funeral expenses.

I want to leave a very considerate corpse.
Bingo

Maybe add "Running car in an enclosed garage" to the suicide method list. A nice sleepy death should be plenty clear for the 'clean up crew.'

Why would you want to kill youself?

People with HIV are living 20-30+ years now. In fact, with the modern treatments, many are not dying at all.

Actually, you're more right than you know. There are far more heterosexual women with HIV than heterosexual men. Heterosexual HIV dating clubs and websites abound and the men have the advantage.

It's weird how few people realize this, I guess it's lost when you hear about the 100 million to die estimate for parts of Africa (over 50 years).

(I've thought about this quite a bit.)

Please tell me the thought process that you went through that would make you end your life over a highly treatable disease with an extremely low morbitity rate now?

i certainly wouldnt work anymore.

Why not?
My picture of a perfect life does not include work, lol.

The problem is, you'll live a very long life if you do the treatments.

Life sucks with no money and no goals.

If I were to acquire HIV, I wouldn't be worried about how long I would live or not live, if I were to chose to live. I'd be depressed enough about it, and all of the consequences of having HIV, that life wouldn't be worth living.

Rather useless, since that would never spread the virus.
But most people don't know that; he might just want to scare the crap out of them.

And then get arrested and sent to FPMITAP because the people actually thought they were in danger.

Because I'd rather die feeling healthy and good than live feeling sick and frail. That's why I really am not looking forward to getting old.

How pathetic and weak.

People live with chronic diseases all the time. Would you end your life if you were diagnosed with Diabetes (a disease with a shorter life span now)?

Your ignornace is astounding.

People with HIV live long, HEALTHY happy lives now with the new treatments.

Of the people I have worked with in my volunteer work, many of the long term survivors are avid athletes. None are any more weak or frail than you. The only pathetic ones are the ones who wallow in self pity.

Absolutely not -- diabetes is not easily communicable to others.

Neither is HIV. You have to willingly and purposefully transmit it. There are few, if any "accidental" transmissions of HIV.

Again, you can live a long, happy, healthy life with HIV.

*YOU* may consider it to be a long, happy, healthy life.

I know several people with HIV, I've read up on it, etc. There's no way I could ever consider that to be a happy or healthy life.

When did I say anything about "accidental"?

Colds and flus are "easily transmitted." HIV must be willingly and intentionally transmitted.

It is very easy to lead your life and never transmit the disease.

And I don't know who you know, or what you've read, but I've worked with hundreds of people with HIV. Most, almost all who do not wallow in self pity, are leading happy, healthy lives.

Some do and some do not, but that's irrelevant to the issue.
