So the $55.00 was to pay the officer to write you the ticket, right ? ;)

We can do that!? *takes notes*

82/65 & no registration, Henrico County, Virginia, 239$ for the ticket (reckless 80+), 40 bucks for the registration. Also a 68/50 that was 84 bucks, Fairfax County.

The $55.00 is the "court cost" which you pay no matter whether you go to court or not. They go to great lengths with a bunch of information on the ticket to state that the officers are salaried employees that receive no direct money from fines. They don't even tell you how much the fine is on the ticket, they give you a number to call to get that info.

62 in a 55 $165 fine :( Bay St. Louis Mississippi.... they rip people off here!! I HATE MS! the bad part was they broke down the ticket cost it was like $40 for the ticket and the rest went to the library, JUVE Hall, police car maintance, and court costs (I never went to court!) etc... what a crock!

Okay I guess that kind of makes sense... however I still find it rediculous that $86.50 is the court cost. also, the fine/cost info was on the envelope the cop gave me that I could send the money in, my bad.

Rolling a stop sign....Detroit

I think the fine was $85

I also got a ticket for a broken windshield at the same time, but went downtown to the courthouse and got out of it by having the thing fixed.

This past December, I got caught driving 101+ on I5 out near Coalinga, CA. The fine was $880 + a 30 day license suspension; this was WAY OUT OF PROPORTION to the offense, and that judge needs to be shot/fired/tortured/mutilated/burned at the stake.

Not to mention it's more than 50% above the speed limit...

My last ticket was for driving with expired registration. $95 in Bucks County, PA. My boss paid it, because it was his vehicle.

Before that I got a disregarding a stop sign ticket in Indiana, $10 fine + $75 court costs.

I've gotten 1 speeding ticket, I was going 72 in a 65 and the cop kindly rounded up to 75. That was a little over $100 I think, and it was in Ohio.

In Wisconsin by Milwaukee (was on my way driving home to Illinois from Visiting my Grandfather after a quadrouple bypass surgery) about 3 or 4 years ago. I wos going the speed of traffic (72 in a 55).

It costed me about $200 up front and about $400 a year in higher auto insurance costs for 3 years.

In Illinois, I usually go Much faster, and the fines have been are$65+20 or $75+$20 ($20 for the 4 hour "alive at 25" class, hey, it keeps it off my record)

Never recieved a traffic violation, but I recently recieved a felony trespassing citation for trespassing on a military base that for some reason wasn't blocked up. The judge reduced it to a city ordinance violation and I only had to pay $100 + court costs. I was extremely lucky.
