What was the last game you played that made your jaw drop?

I'm really behind on the latest games and I'm curious which games out there are so beautiful, immersive or realistic that it left you in awe.

Probably ArmA II OA.

Most people will probably go by looks and shallow graphics, but that loses its luster quickly. I prefer games with scope and ambition.

When I discovered just how amazingly intricate and ambitious it was. Nothing else even comes close. Scope, scale, and realism-wise, as well as the sheer number of stuff you can do, it blows pretty much everything else out of the water.

As a game, it has some fundamental flaws that keep it being less than perfect, but I'm willing to forgive many of those based on the simple fact that there's nothing else out there that attempts (and succeeds with) half as much.

Nothing since Crysis 1.

I only played Crysis 2 when it was in beta or w/e and it didn't look that great to me.

I hear great things about Witcher 2. One of these days I'll check that out too.

Skyrim was nice but you kinda expected it to look nice so it wasnt really jaw dropping. Walking out of Vault 101 in FO3, and first laying eyes on the capital wasteland was probably the most wow experience Ive ever had in a video game

The original Crysis, nothing really made my jaw drop since then. I would say that both Half-Life 2 and the original Far Cry were the ones prior to Crysis that almost equally made my jaw drop (especially Half-Life 2 due to character/body/facial animations, and physics).

The beginning of some office level in Max Payne 3. When the gun fire started everything was breaking, papers were being tossed in the air and more baddies were pouring in to add to the carnage. As I dove through a window in slow motion I was able to see the sheer amount of stuff that was being affected by the gun fire. It was awesome.

Star Wars Galaxies.

My first MMO and the world was truly massive. I could not believe everything that I could do in that game. (Circa early '04)

Probably FO3. Just found the setting/story to be very immersive and interesting. It was my first Fallout game as well, so everything was new to me.

The characters speaking in L.A. Noire. The lip movement and facial expressions are the closest to reality that I've ever seen, and I'm not sure there is a close second.
