I'm not certain what my first tape was, but my first CD was DC Talk "Free At Last".

When I was younger I was only allowed to listen to Christian music, so Jesus Freak and Audio Adrenaline's first album (among other things) were some of my most played.

Billy Joel (Not sure which one, probably the one with Uptown Girl) was my first cassette.
Information Society (self-titled) was my first CD

First tape was Bryan Adams - Reckless
Don't hate...I was ~12-13 years old and hadn't discovered metal yet.

First CD was Bon Jovi - Slippery When Wet

First vinyl was either PacMan Fever or Queen's Single - Another one bites the dust

Really, an awesome album, besides the overplayed "Dream on" songs like "one way street" (which, sadly got zero air time) but meat on the bones of some good rock and roll..

That Billy Joel album would be "An Innocent Man" and Information Society's self titled album is an awesome one. I beat my tape copy of it to death in the car back in the late 80's.

Metallica - Master of Puppets

I went out and purchased Kill 'Em All and Ride the Lightning later that day.

Better question is what is the LAST album I've purchased. I dont pay for music anymore and I'm proud to say so. I will however take advantage of Apple's iCloud, which makes all my illegal music legal.

purchased at the same time, because I had to do a project on Marilyn Manson for high school.

I'd owned albums prior to that, but they were all either bought by my parents, received as gifts, or were cast-offs from my older sister.

I'm pretty sure it was Red Hot Chili Peppers - Mothers Milk on cassette.

I know there had to be something else, but that one sticks out in my mind for some reason.

I bought two albums at the same time.

Metallica - Kill 'em All
Metallica - Metallica

I bought Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets and ...And Justice for All a few days later.
