Just curious, kinda cool to think back that far...

It took me a while to remember, but for me it was a cassette tape of ( please don't make fun of me for this ) MC Hammers masterpiece "Please Hammer don't hurt 'em"

God help me for that.... at the same time I bought a John Anderson tape, it had the songs "Seminole Wind" and "Straight Tequila Night"

That was actually a damn good album

I was a huge fan of Freestyle music in the 80s.

lol mine was the same...bought the tape @ a garage sale.

Soon after came milli vanilli, nirvana nevermind and greenday dookie

I lived in Concord CA at the time. I rode my bike to Sun Valley Mall, about 7 miles away, and purchased Boston's debut album. It was about $6. A lot of money to a 13 year old in 1976. I still have that LP in my collection.

Do you still play that album grandpa? 😀

FTR-I probably bought that album in a record store 10 years after you did.

First album bought: U2's "Achtung Baby" on CD

First album given to me: Def Leppard "Pyromania"

First album I remember listening to: My Dad's 8 track of Queen's "News of the World". I found it in the basement and I'll bet I listened to that thing 1000 times in the summer of 86 or so.

Actually I have it on multiple versions of CD now so no need to play the LP. Nowadays I only play vinyl to get it on the hard drive and then only if the music is not available in a good CD version. Some LPs were transferred to CD with original mastering and sound good and some never made it to CD in a listenable version. It is amazing just how stupid mastering engineers have become. I don't know if it is because they lack talent or because the music is useless to begin with. The problem is these idiots tend to ruin good old music when they offer reissues. Is really sad.

Think it was Jesus Christ Superstar, double album UK cast with Ian Gillan in the main role, not the movie soundtrack that came later.
