Doesn't sound like a bunk player to me.

So, you're telling me that you'd settle for USB 1.1 if you bought a player that was supposed to be USB 2.0 and it didn't operate at USB v2 specs?

Absolutely. That is exactly what I'm saying. It is used.

-edit- and in the end the player may be just fine and its user error. I'd call creative and get the scoop.

I think you need to contact Creative about this.

Although the Zen Micro comes with a USB 2.0 interface, we found music transfer to be much slower than we expected and noticeably slower than other hard drive based music players we have tested in the past. We transferred the same album to both the iPod Mini and the Zen Micro, and the results where surprising. They both use USB 2.0, but the Zen Micro seemed like it was transferring at USB 1.0 speeds. The iPod Mini took about 2 seconds to transfer each song, where the Zen Micro took between 8 to 10 seconds per song, depending on size.

As stated before, craigs-list almost implies as-is.
Furthermore, have you tried his suggesting of calling creative?

edit: and have you tried any other USB 2.0 devices with your system?

I've e-mailed creative with no response, can't call as I don't have a phone. Craigslist can't "imply" as-is IMHO... technically, the seller has to state AS-IS if that's how they're selling the item.

Does not really matter. While the specs show it to be a higher speed, it has been porven the USB 2.0 does not sustain that throughput/speed very well. I can see where you are coming from, but's it is merely a little to cry foul over.

I don't know if it's worth going to court over or anything like that, but if the seller says it works "flawlessly" then it should work that way.

Also, figure out how long it takes to transfer 5GB over slower and faster usb and then tell me it's just a whiney little thing.

You think I should sell it stating that it has a USB 2.0 interface and that would be morally correct? I think I would disagree, as nobody would buy it for what I bought it for if it was USB 1.1 only.

Is it possible that there are versions of the player that are not high speed? I find it hard to believe that the guy could have broken the thing is such a way that the USB still works, but only at the lower speed.

Anyway, ask yourself if it's really worth this much hassle. I mean, how much music are you going to be switching out at any one time? A few hundred MB? 5 minutes worth of transfer? I think I'd just cut my losses and move on.

It's actually the other way around. Getting used stuff pretty much implies as is. It's like a virtual yard sale.

Craigslist is the same as the newspaper classified section. Everything is sold used and in as-is condition unless the seller specifies otherwise.

exactly. ATOT FST is different - as we're all registered members with credentials. CL is like a virtual yard sale, would the OP expect a refund if purchased at a yard sale?

Agreed. I highly doubt that the guy was able to break the usb to only run at the normal speed. it might be an earlier revision or somthing? Anywyas sell it again.

Hmmm, if it's just a design problem then i don't think it's the sellers fault.

What if there's a problem and I have to end up formatting it or something? or what if my tastes change? Initially i'd have to transfer around 4gb of music and that'd take forever!

I'd buy it if it was USB 1.1 because my laptop only has usb 1.1;). Just transfer and do something for a good half hour.

i have to agree...that sounds strange that you could 'break' it in such a way....

Sorry, but it sounds as if you are having buyers remorse. Look at the review I linked. You can't blame the seller for this.

This is not true... I had a Zen Micro before this one without any problems transferring songs at 2-3 secs each.

I think the seller really isn't at fault here. He advertised the product with the same specs that the manufacturer advertises it. From an earlier post, it seems like it's a known hardware problem (overall, not just this particular unit) which is not in the Seller's control. Unless I missed something.

No, I still want a Zen Micro... had one before this without any problems.. it transferred songs quick.
