Yeah and they sounded like men, not teenage sissies (ie Green Day). All these new bands today have that teenager voice. It's tiring.

Never disrespect the late Robert Palmer. :colbert: Some of these old guys could actually sing. Lots of popular musical 'artists' these days are all about the image and studio over-production.

Do you think anyone like these guys could even be a pop star again?

Not literally these guys, but someone like them.

It would be hard. I think everyone over 30 only listens to music of their generation or in the past and any under 30 wants some teenie bopper with a pubescent voice and loud guitar riffs.

I would expect someone 30-40+ to have the life experience to sing a song, not a 14 year old british socialite. In the end, good music is good music, but it is very odd to see the change.

A lot of the artists you mentioned were still in their 20s around their commercial peak. 😕

Now we have (c)rap. I don't listen to commercial music much because it's cookie cutter boring. What you could never have again is Pink Floyd because they didn't keep their tunes to 3 minutes or less.

Adam Levine of Maroon Five is 35. Animals is #1 on the Top 40.
Pitbull is 33.
Usher is 36.

Blake Shelton is 38.
Luke Bryan is 38.
Jason Aldean is 37.

I believe the "commercial music" you speak of is referred to as "noise" by most. It's a really sad thing actually. Music will never be the same ... I was definitely born at the wrong time. 🙁

Pop goes through cycles. The 80s were in the "boring white guy" portion of the cycle. Fresh air rarely gets blown into pop.
