It's funny hearing the love-fest over 80's music. Has it been so long that we've come around to liking 80's culture again? Guessing most of you are 40+ years old? I bet you're all Kiss fans too.

Almost everything about the 80s sucked. It sucked when I was there, and it sucks now. The only good thing about the 80s was video games, and the launch of home computing.

Edit:
The only thing that makes 80s music look good is comparing it to popular music today. a guy living in DPRK... "Dude! Stalin was totally awesome!!"

I'm 24 and love 80s music. Metal, hardcore punk, all sorts of electronic stuff from pop to industrial and everything in between, etc. Kiss is more 70s anyways.

Awesomeness was going on in the 80's, that's what.

Iron Maiden
Ozzy Osbourne
Metallica
Judas Priest
Rush
Helloween
DRI
Megadeth

on and on and on...

But most of those suck if youre not a teenage boy, and I say that as someone who has seen 7 of those live.

Really some of the 80s was good but most of it sucked, pretty much like any age.

OP, that's a great question.

Circa 1980, aides was discovered….and it absolutely shut down sex.

Before 1980s, = sex sex sex...More sex sex sex sex sex….sex sex sex….whew,,,,thank God I was a world-class athlete……I still haven't full recovered...sex sex sex...More sex sex sex sex sex….sex sex =1980

Then circa 1980, Aides threw a huge spotlight onto homosexuals, who were previously had gone more unmentioned, then suddenly made a HUGE SPLASH by bringing YOU the gift of Aides into YOUR world and thereby radically changing the whole world’s social environment.

Previously, propaganda was that observable differences in physiology of brains of homosexuals vs straights were innocent consequences of genetic cards dealt to homosexuals - they were a “normal” fraction of genetic probabilities….”victims.”

Around 1980 epigenetics became publicized (having been acedimically investigated much earlier) . By epigenetics it became understood that repeated homosexual behaviors CAUSED those observable changes in the brain (in other words, no you weren’t born like that. Rather you manifested that into your own reality by your actions…YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE. Behaviors trigger epigenetic reactions FAST, right within your single immediate life, not waiting for a long daisy chain of subsequent generations to manifest) .

Around 1980 homosexuals utterly destroyed and removed from society the open sexuality that had prevailed previously, by bringing YOU the GIFT of Aides. About 1980 sex in open society went subterranean...essentially went away. What had been FUN transformed into Life or Death. Becuase of homosexuals who brought Aides to YOUR hometown.

Life today is a million times different/ suppressed, than pre-1980, thanks to homosexuals and their gift to YOU of Aides. Whooyeah, homosexuality got mainstreamed nowadays. 1980 was about the turning point.

Jeez, I'm nice to homosexuals and none of them have given me any of their aides. :'( I could really use some organization. Could I at least have a page?

Aids, the dismantling of the Soviet Union, Star Wars (the Reagan'defence' programme, not the movies), Iran-Contra, neoliberalism, Latin America's debt crisis, the first Persian Gulf War, the first appearance of Apple/Jobs, Bowie, and last but not least, my birth. It was one giant nightmare, made livable solely through the outlet of twisted, twisted fashions.

I wonder if any of these artist would do well on The Voice or American Idol.

Could you see Robert Palmer on The Voice?
Seeing as that show only looks for 2 types of karaoke singer, probably not.

Are you kidding?! It wasn't just the Nintendo! The 80's had Ghostbusters. TMNT, Batman, The Goonies, Star Trek TNG, Black Micheal Jackson and so forth. It was an age when technology was new and exciting long before everything in America went to shit. And kids still had time to go outside to play, in stark contrast to the zombie iphone generation of today. Though I am biased through the looking glass of my youth, it seemed every inch better than this decade and last.

Here's my album breakdown by original release year up to 2009. I got lazy and stopped updating the database file after that.

albumyear2009.gif

Since then I've added a couple hundred more albums, mostly more recent stuff. The 80s would gain maybe another ten albums as I replaced vinyl I had to sell when I was a starving student (yes, I went and bought food with the proceeds). The 90s were mostly world music and early music, very little pop/rock. I could throw my artist up here list but the mods might take objection to a 2,211 line list. :p

I think modern day is better than any point in the past. People before 2000 were unbelievably retarded. There was no way to fact check anything. How many times have you heard someone say chewing gum shouldn't be swallowed because it never leaves you? Dying after eating pop rocks with coke? Killer marijuana? I think the killer marijuana thing on Fox News came after the internet, but it immediately became a joke. Nowadays, most people seem aware that there has never been a documented case of marijuana overdose. Lying to young people has never been more difficult than it is today.

First I've heard of "ZOMG! Killer marijuana!" on Fox News. Ancient propaganda films like "Reefer Madness?" Sure, but Fox News? They have people who believe all drugs should be legalized. While I am sure many have also demonized it on the network, would you mind fact checking that and providing a source to avoid the appearance of assuming to confirm your own bias?
