Let me also play a little more Debbie Downer...

One of the enduring things about the earlier LEGO games (Star Wars, HP etc) were that the figures did_not_talk, yet the entire storyline was able to be told through other means -- visual clues, them making inflections/noises etc. Then they started having the figures talk -- and some of the "magic" was lost IMHO.

I actually agree with this.

The Lego games were such a cashgrab...simple 3D modelling, little texturing, little in the way of interesting gameplay or stories (...usually just vaguely following a movie plot with NES-level button-mashing and object-collecting), no voiceovers. A group of art and programming students could make them.

While I'm sure they'll put a BIT more effort into a movie...blech. It's still just some exec's idea for a way to turn a quick tidy profit.

Good chances I accidentally wrote a couple of those Lego games like 15 years ago when I first tried learning programming. There was lots keyboard smashing and horrendously basic graphics.

I can't wait to see it. I LOVED legos as a kid and this just kinda brings all of it to life.

Teaser trailers have been around for a year+
My daughter has been dying to see this one.
We're a very LEGO-centric house.

What stinks though is based on all the footage seen thus far, there seems to be the omission of LEGO's biggest licensed brands: Start Wars, Indiana Jones, Harry Potter, Sponge Bob etc. There's Marvel... but that's it. I'd love to see the other franchises represented in the movie

Marvel != DC

Hand over your nerd card. :colbert:

If only they'd bring back the lego pirates ship sets like they brought back lego Knights.

I think the Lego games are genius. Good fun without needing to be too serious.
They are somewhat the "Disney World" of video games. Not the most thrilling for experienced gamers, but it's still good fun for all ages.

And I wouldn't have it any other way. I'm too old not to be a child now and then.:p
Actually, I am a child by most standards. :awe: I can't even work in some states! :eek:

Anyways, I am looking forward to the movie.

I love how the spaceman's helmet is cracked in the front because of that one time that EVERYONE accidentally stepped on the damn thing and broke it.
