FPS player here. I hate stats because they suck me in and I try to do all the challenges and have a good ratio and all. Then comes out the next game and I leave the one I worked on for 1 or 2 years and move on. Then I ask myself why did I do it in the first place for no reward?

I don't know what's worse; getting caught watching paint dry or playing video games.

If we're specifically talking about FPS games, I'd have to say progression. BF2 was beautiful. You could rank up and there were some rewards, but a newbie had just about as much power as a veteran.

Then BF3 came along and you have unlock 50,000 little things like TV missiles. It's absurd.

I hate that MMORPG's went from needing teamwork and a proper party set-up to succeed to having all classes being able to solo/fill roles. I don't have the time for this type of game like I did in college, but actually making it to 60 in FFXI back in the day meant something and you quickly found who the terrible players were because they never got past level 20 and ended up quitting the game.

Sadly those same people I ran into WoW in 5/10 mans, but were never able to raid because they still didn't understand what they were supposed to do in a group situation.

Achievements that unlock weapons in fps games, especially BF4. I don't feel like looking for a bottle of whiskey to give to a unicorn who is depressed cause he saw Twilight so i could unlock the Deagle or some other bs Op weapon.

I am to old school to be someones servant so i could earn a weapon that should be allowed to be earned with simple point collecting or ranking up of kits....I don't want to be fetching someones freaking water to get the p90 either.

Quick Time Events are high on my list of hated things, but...

My single most hated thing in video games is 'streamlining', aka dumbing down. Your last game was a hit, but a vocal casual minority whines about something, and the sequel gets nerfed. Diablo 3 I'm looking at you; yea, having to remake a character to better spend your stat points ruined Diablo 2... nobody played it. /sarcasm

Yeah, unlocking 10 things just to get the one thing you want sucks ass. Another thing I find annoying is the unskippable logos in the beginning of games. Who really gives a crap...just wanna play the game.

Check point saves. Give me back old school PC game "I can save wherever the hell I want" save feature __________________
Absolutely agree. Also not being able to rebind the keyboard to my liking. Once again, this wasn't an issue in most of the "older" games! (At least not the ones I played.)

The constant bitching and whining from childish idiots I am forced to play with in multiplayer servers.

I don't see any controversy. They said how much they sold to retailers. Are they even supposed to know how many copies retailers have sold at retail? Does every retailer in the world send Activision a report on how many copies of Destiny sold? Seems like a stupid Kotaku click-bait article on a non-controversy. What a surprise.

playing games.

because when you get good, you are objectively good. at something completely useless.

define useless?

what if you throw a baseball with friends, and you know how to throw a curve ball, would you call this useless too? what about playing in general? chess, flirting with girls etc?
