It seems like society spends a lot of resources on certain people that will never be able to pay society back. Do you think there are people like this? If so, what percentage of the population is it?

And I'm not just attacking the lower class per se. A janitor could be very useful for society if they don't drain the public coffers by having more children than they can afford, giving themselves diabetes, committing crimes, etc. The same goes for a CEO.

This thread reminds me of the whole Hurricane Katrina incident and the sense of entitlement from all those welfare recipients who've been leeching off of society for generations.

Well we have the elderly and the infirm. We could shove them out onto the iceflow.

Sure, if you kill everyone who receives welfare and does *nothing* to contribute into society other then spend their welfare checks, then yes, you could ultimately benefit society at large by culling these people off. Why stop there? Let's cull off the terminally ill and mentally insane while we are at it, what is the point of keeping those people around either? Seriously though, think of how much more GOOD USE we could put our money towards if we didn't just blow it away on people who worried about how much crack they can do or how many meds they can pop to justify laying around like a worthless slug.

I actually wrote a book about this same topic while I did a short stint in the county jail about our nations hardships, I just called it "My struggle"....Should get published I hope, fingers crossed!

For many of the elderly and the infirm, they've had a useful life. Sure if they died at 65 everyone else would be richer but that's not really what I'm getting at.

The top 1% that does nothing but hoard money. I think they should have as much will fit stuffed up their asses right before they die. That way they'll be sure to keep "what's theirs."

Start having babies, it's the #1 way to milk off the government because no matter how much of a goofball parent you are, there's a SLIVER of hope your child could be the next president, local firefighter, teacher, doctor, etc.

Jeebus. Are you serious? How do you sleep at night? Although, I hear some contract killers sleep soundly. And they're productive members of society. Yeah, the more I think about your thesis, the more I see your point.

I have a hunch you're jumping to conclusions. You probably have poor reading comprehension skills.

The percent that does not pay taxes. So 50%.

No doubt you're one of them.

Utilitarian ideology is deeply authoritarian. Perhaps the most authoritarian of all ideologies. A free human being works for himself and his own betterment, and not to appease the demands of society as a slave.

Who is to judge who is useless you or anyone else? I find a poll like this highly offensive.

You sound like the Nazi SS stormtroopers herding Jews to go to the gas chamber. People with a 1 got worked to death and the women, children, elderly, and the sick got a 2 which meant they were immediately put to death.
