I know a girl who is falling into this. She started as a waitress at a strip club and is now getting her stripping lisence so she can "make $800 in one night of work!!!"
(to which I replied, "Yeah, and the only thing you lose is your dignity!")

o/t: can you believe that strippers need a lisence here?

Sure, strippers and porn actresses can make good money. But do they get any respect or credibility, nope.

How many car dealerships and mortgage lenders ask to see a copy of your Respect and Credibility? :D

None, in fact, they'd probably get a better deal if they're hot. But Im talking about repect and credibility among working proffesionals. Not car salesmen.

No offense to any of you who are in that business. I think Waggy said his family was in the car sales business. This only applies to the sleazy dealerships.

They'd get a better deal because strippers always pay in cash.

Respect and credibility are far overrated. Financial security > *

She was a waitress at a strip club, and now she is dancing?

How exactly do you quantify the loss of dignity in the two positions?

I always thought that the only difference between a waitress at a strip club and an actual stripper was about 20 pounds.

The waitresses are more likely to work out backroom deals too. They don't get as much attention as the strippers themselves.

I guess they don't really say that... but apparantly there are a lot of really old, toothless strippers out there. Somebody has to work the dayshift at the local joint.

I just don't understand the line that has to be crossed for a woman to say "I want to get paid to take off my clothes" and then secondly, the completle lack of motivation it must take to keep a woman there rather than find a better job for the long haul...

Anyone have any insight into this?

The things I think about on friday afternoons at work....
Well, this issue comes up every once in a while. I did make a pretty good post about it way back when, but the search function here sucks now and I dont feel like making that rant over again.

I will say this: ASK THEM!
It always amazes how people complain they cant figure something out when the answer is SO easily obtained.
Go and ask them. Actually sit down and talk to the girls for a few minutes. (If you're able, I know some clubs are strict and the girl needs be constantly making money.)

I have been to MANY bars and clubs over the years and frequented a couple.
And I do actually talk to the girls. Many of them like what they do, and if you find a gal who is happy with her profession sit down and spend some time with her.

You may be pleasantly suprised at the conversation you have.
I have had some serious enlightenment over the years talking to strippers. They arent always as ignorant or simple as they may seem.

Speaking of ignorance, this thread reeks of it, with regards to stripping. Not trying to make personal attacks but it seems most of these folks have no or little clue.
I can only guess these guys have visited one club in a bad part of town in a bad city and talked to a couple of the worst girls.
They are not desperate losers.
Same for porn stars and brothel workers.

I think a lot of folks here need to visit Marc Perkels website and learn.

shes really hot. I think she only took the waitress position to get herself into a club to see if she would like to dancing.

I have no idea what goes on in strip clubs other than the dancing and a few nasty acts people have told me about so I don't know if the waitresses do as degrading things as the dancers.

wtf you guys are idiots. In my experience the decent strippers are really taking advantage of the saps going there. Most have a strict 'no touch' policy.

I see no difference between that or working at a bar

low self-esteem, no education, good pay.

trifecta.

actually, wouldn't you have to have somewhat high self esteem to get naked and dance for a bunch of guys?
Nope.

must be different kinds of low self-esteem then because i don't like doing anything in public and i'm fully clothed.

Uhh...

Exactly. The customers are the suckers.... except at 1:30 am on a slow night, when someone has a car payment to make.

Trust me, I've dropped enough cash at strip clubs to know for a fact that they are definetely making bank. Especially in vegas. If I were a sexy little lady, I'd be stripping too

Wasn't there a song about a guy coming home to find his Schitzo Stripper girlfriend with an immigrant?

I Googled but can't find it. I know I heard it on the radio last week, but I don't even know what state I was in at the time...

And for those with multiple motives, you get free dances if the girl's more interested in talking to you rather than fending off the clammy hands of Dirty Old Man #42. :p

How about the 6figure income at 18 with no special training required? Most of it tax free.
