Lol okay I like how everyone likes that overly greasy chinese-american stuff.
My favorite chinese food is:
Lobster cantonese style (chopped up served with black bean, garlic, and ground pork sauce aka lobster sauce) ginger scallion style is good too
Roast duck
Yang chow fried rice
Beef rice porridge
Taro-pressed duck
Salted fish over ground pork (a very ethnic dish, most people probably haven't heard of it...)

WTF is this crab rangoon everybodys talking about! Whats the cantonese pronounciation?

It's usually a wonton stuffed with a paste of cream cheese and imitation crab. I doubt if you'll find it in China, but it's pretty common in the US.

I made Szechuan style green beans with shrimp last night, which is my favorite Chinese entree.

Several dim sum items from crispy squid to steamed shrimp and spinach dumplings vie with the Szechuan green beans for my overall favorite Chinese food.

Here's mine 🙂

1. Hum yee fa lam pou (salted fish + pork (50 fat/50 lean) in a claypot)
2. Kwong lam mee (something like yee mee, but a LOT better)
3. Chow kueh tiao (Malaysia/Singapore favourite)
4. Har cheong kwat (a 6-8" rib deep fried with some special sauce)

Do you have those in US? 🙂

Hmm... 1 sounds like something I mentioned in my post

Chronoshock: You mean the salted fish thingy? The sauce is dark brown/blackish in colour and it's cooked with some dried chillies?

Hmm the one I eat is different, the salted fish is on top of the pork which is seasoned with sesame oil and some cornstarch, then the whole thing is steamed and some hot oil is poured over it at the end. Any idea what style of cooking your dish is? The dish I'm thinking of is probably either Cantonese or Toisanese

It's totally different then. The one I refer to has the salted fish cooked together with the pork. Umm... Malaysian Chinese style? 🙂

There's no possible way I could narrow it down...maybe I could break it into categories; favorite Mom's cooking...favorite dim sum/lunch...favorite noodles...favorite casual dinner...favorite "nice" dinner...

But luckily, I'll never have to choose. 🙂

I don't like authentic chinese food (especially the wacked seafood) and I'm chinese... american born though... but that's still not "gwai-lo".
