No one questions you Aigo because you spend $5k on cooling loops AND you always back it up with appropriate screenshots. But you'd be hearing from me too without the screenshots... believe it. ;)

Currently idling at 20-25c. Ambient temp is 15c.
100% load at 49c

Running an i5-2500k (stock speed) with a CM 212 evo cooler.

Is temp variation on the cores like this normal? I have the same thing going on and the same cores seem to run hot on mine also. I was thinking of resetting my heatsink cause I thought it wasn't mounted properly to get such a wide variation.

Completely normal, I would ignore anything up toabout 6-8 degrees difference between cores and from what I can tell nearly all SB chips do this.

I don't believe you. Those screenshots are totally Photoshopped (the shadows are all wrong). Happy now?

You posted a few pics of your cooling box which looks like it would cool 3 pc if need be.
I saw all those nice maybe 24v pumps being used to push through 3 or 4 rads and still have a very high head pressuse at wb.
The dust on filters also tells a story about the high amount of air being pushed.
Next you must have central air to keep room cool.
Then all you need is head phones to block air noise.
But it sure is a nice water setup.

Intel Core i3-2100. 37c idle, 54c max I have ever seen. Usually hovers in the 40-46c bracket when under daily use.

This is a budget build, stock Intel heatsink + fan housed in a Cooler Master Elite 311. Perhaps a case with better airflow and more fans would result in lower temperatures, but anything less than 60c is good enough so there.

Here's my question: Why is there a big difference between asus' AI Suite 2 and real temp/ core temp?

Real temp is always like 5-6c higher than core temp, CPU ID hardware monitor, and AI suite II. I don't understand. Actually, every one of these programs report different temps than the other, but real temp is the biggest discrepancy. Always higher than the rest.

yeah i noticed the same thing with my last PC with an e8400, they were around 6-10c apart most the time. on this chip they seem to come closer together the more stressed out it gets. when im just browsing etc they sometimes get up to 10c apart. but from what i read its normal. and its been 100% stable so I have no reason to be concerned imo!

Thanks everyone for their replies! It looks like most of your temperatures idling are about the same as mine, so I guess I did a good job on the thermal paste! :)

FAIL!

dont ever look at others scores and think they can apply to you.

So many different variables come into play.

1. Ambients.. what is the temp right in front of your computer.
2. Ambients @ sink... what is the temp of the air your sink is pulling... can be higher then outside ambients.
3. What type of sink are you using?
4. What kind of Fans are you using and at what speed.
5. What Thermal Paste are you using?
6. Do you sing to it at night? Are u using an Intel Sticker on your case...

Ok 6 is a joke.. but the first 5 apply heavily.

I'm using a H100 with a i5 2500k @ 4.5ghz, push/pull setup. At idle the highest core temp is 44-45c, while the other cores idle at 38-39c. While gaming (BF3, ultra settings), the temps never break 51c at the most, but I'm thinking about replacing the thermal paste to shave off a few degrees. I've read that the H100 uses Shin Etsu, but I'm leaning towards IC Diamond. Do you think I should hold off or try for a lower temp?

Ambients - 24c
Dunno the temp right next to the H100...
I am using 4 gentle typhoons push/pulling air out from the top of my case.
I'm guessing the paste is Shin Etsu, but I've read it could be Dow Corning?

My 2600K peaks around 93-94°C at 5GHz and 1.5V under LinX with an H100.

Finally, someone who's honest.

Like a lot of these threads that pop up, most of the comparisons in this thread are meaningless. It would help if we knew what was used to generate the load, what cooler is used, the duration of the test, the ambient temperature, and what monitoring software was used.

Even the OP stated he doesn't have any load temps yet because he hasn't "played any games on it yet". Playing a game and using AVX Linpack enabled LinX is not comparable.

My ambient temp is 21°C and the fifth core (Core #4 in Core Temp) idles at 14°C after sitting at the Windows desktop for 20 minutes. Someone please tell me how that's even possible.

The 6th core (Core #5 in Core Temp) shows a load temp of 29°C while under load. Under load being browsing the AnandTech forums for 5 minutes. The cooler is a Prolimatech Megahalems with two 120mm Aerocool Blue Shark fans in a push/pull config. 3960X @ 4.5GHz with 1.375V on an Asus P9X79 Deluxe.

Sorry, didn't see your post before I made my reply. I agree with your points and would like to add some of the stuff I already mentioned. App that generates the load, duration, and monitoring software.

Guess you didn't see my post on the first page either then :D. Not quite so detailed but it does point out that until you mention ambient temp and case airflow you might aswell compare apples and goats :p

X4 965 @ 4.1 GHz.

Corsair H50 with two 120MM fans (push-pull).

High 20s / low 30s idle.

Mid-high 40s loaded.

Couldn't be happier. This machine is silent.

again the OP does not need to know what temps an AMD cpu gets.

i5-2500k @ 4.5 Ghz
Vcore: 1.3

idle: 30 celcius
100% load (folding@home) : 67 celcius
Ambient: 22-23 celcius

Cooler: Corsair H50, though I should note that I got about the same temps using a coolermaster Hyper 212 during the summer.

1100t at auto oc 3.8ghz 41cel on all 6 cores max load cinebench 11.5

Hyper 212 plus and artic silver 5.

Used artic silver 5 in so many builds and for friends it really helps out its a must have for any build i do:biggrin:

I do doubt my load temps but i used cpuid hwmonitor and apparently that never lies but my vcore is at 1.356 when fully loaded so maybe?

Build is housed in a antec 300 case fans on medium

lol, why are you posting your AMD cpu temps? that will not help the OP at all.

NO the funny part is the load with cinebench...That takes all of under a minute to complete the test and hardly will load the cpu for temps.
