I have a window unit with no digital temperature display. So I usually set the knob to 3-4 and it cools my room enough. I'd guess it's in the high 70s.

77F. If I set it any higher, the fans on my computer will adjust to their highest speed, and the noise is annoying.

AC causes obesity. I'd like to leave it off but when others live with you you have to compromise.

Doesn't the human body use more calories staying warm than cooling off? I mean yeah if you sweat you might lose water weight but not dry weight.

I've been keeping it at 75 lately. It's a bit warm, but, not too uncomfortable wearing shorts and a tshirt.
My basement is about 65, which is awesome.

My house is smallish, only around 950 square feet above ground (and another 950 in the basement), so it's never been more than about $175 for my electric bill ... and that's with several computers running 24/7 ...

75. Any less and on really hot days it will just sit and run constantly and not get any lower.

74 when we're home, 80 when we're not.

BTW, anyone here get condensation on the outside of their AC ducts? I'm assuming that's normal? My AC ducts drip quite a bit in the HVAC/utility room.

google a/c pipe drip....if it is dripping more than normal, your drain pipes might be clogged...

Mine is set to OFF. Haven't had to use it yet this summer as we haven't had more than a couple days where the temps got into the 80s.

It is 71 degrees in here right now. Been down in the low 60s at night outside.

80 during the day, off at night.

Frankly, if I wasn't married, I would not use it, but my wife insists.

No I believe they are referring to the ducts themselves sweating. Uninsulated duct work can easily run at sub dewpoint temps on the outside. It will sweat like a cold glass of pop or a toilet tank with a cold (well water) supply that does not have a tempering valve.

Sweating ducts aren't usually a problem in un-finished space but if they sweat above a plasterboard ceiling, for example; the result can be mold or water seep damage.
