BTW there's a big label under the hood that says 5W-20. Of course in Europe Ford recommends 5W-30, and apparently some Ford Engineer says you get less wear with it, so I think that's what I'll put in when I do an oil change

I've got two 4.6L (only 2-valve motors though) and switched them both to 5W-20. Supposedly Ford changed the spec, maybe something to do with their corporate fuel economy ratings. I don't remember exactly. The Motorcraft semi-synthetic blend is the one I use, it's even less expensive than the 5W-30 Castrol I filled them with previously. I haven't bothered to have the Motorcraft analyzed so I can't comment on the wear.

I took a wrong turn on the way to a photo shoot at a winery and ended up in a field of wildflowers, so I took this pic

Thanks.

I use Quaker State Full synthetic 5W-20. It goes on sale for dirt cheap at Walmart quite often. Speaking of which....probably changing the oil today.

The funnest thing about this car is it makes young guys try to show off their riced Scions etc! Now I see why exdeath is always racing. Of course I don't go much above the speed limit, and will only race if it's an empty area with nothing/nobody to hit.

I've also been wrong about cars. I used to think it was more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow. But with a torquey V8, manual, and exhaust that makes it sound like Bullitt, this car is FUN to accelerate even at a brisk pace up to the speed limit.

I believe a good race every now and then is a good way to break the monotony of daily driving. Just be safe!

I'm not always racing or trying to race. People only want to race my beat up 20 year old Camry, so then I drive a grey Cobra and nobody wants to race anymore. :hmm:

Oh god, tell me about it. My Charger seems to attract four-bangers with spoilers like fruit files to an open bottle of Merlot left outside.

The SuperBee owns that. Don't do it. MOPAR guys will be angry.

I was thinking dark blue. I found out that Kinkos cuts vinyl decals, so I might try rocker decals with the text "YELLOWBIRD" with the rest of the length made up by double stripes. I just need to make a PDF based on the bus company font.

Cool car!

Dont call it yellowbird. That would be like tattooing Giseles name on sandra bernhardt.

Really only one yellowbird and its a ruf 😛

You mean you EXPECT to pay over MSRP? 😕 Around here, MSRP is the worst that should be possible.
-snip-

I should've said MSRP for base models.

I don't recall seeing a car on the lot that was 'base'. There's always some other stuff listed so the sticker price has always been higher than that advertised for the base model.

No, I'm sure the dealership here while high, advertise a higher price expecting to give some discount. Still, the prices here are too high.

It's amazing how having a quick car makes you appreciate one. :awe:

I drove it so hard this weekend it needs new brake pads at least up front! Thinking I'll go with Motorcraft organics and some good quality rotors.

My idle is fluctuating though. And also, when I rev, the engine takes a while to spin down to idle. Googling turns up very few threads on it and no one seems to have a definitive fix... Seems like it could be the MAF, or a vacuum leak, or dirty throttle body, or fuel filter. There is no idle control valve like there is on the BMW though. Could be the gas... I've been using 93 octane because I suspect the PO would have been the type of person to get a custom tune.

I had similar issues with mine when I was stock. I would try cleaning the throttle body and then performing the relearn procedures and see if that makes it any better. I never had to do these again after getting a custom tune.

Pull negative terminal from battery, wait 30 minutes.

Replace the negative terminal.

Train the throttle: Turn on key, wait until the dash lights settle (and you might wanna put down the windows if it's hot), then push on the throttle slowly over about 4 seconds or so until you hit the floor, then let up. Turn off key. Wait 5 seconds. That's it on that.

Train the computer: Turn on key, turn off all accessories. Start engine, wait until it's at normal operating temp, then run 1 minute at idle. Then run 1 minute with Max A/C. Then drive mixed speeds for 10 miles.

Thanks. I was also reading about a training procedure where you coast down from 60mph to 40mph

Do you know if the original spark plugs are still in there or were they changed out at 100k?

If you haven't seen on any of the forums yet be careful if you plan to pull and check any of your spark plugs yourself. The 2005-07 have the two piece design that is a pita to work with in regards to not breaking them off in the head.
