What is the "worst" gift you got for Christmas this year?

Elixer

Lifer
I got a 6 pack... of pencils.

Yes, pencils.

Didn't really know how to respond to that, this is from a in-law as well.

I thought it was a joke of some kind at first, so I go, "Pencils? Did you find these in a museum or something?"
He goes "No, I know you like to write!"
I go... uhhh....
Then my 7 year old niece goes "He writes on the computer, DUH!"
I was laughing.

He got mad, and left.

Just plain old wood pencils? Are you in school? If so...OK, odd gift, but still could be of use...if not...???

Woah there boomer...

Worst gift I ever got was two years of celibacy, these bishes really hatin on a nixxa.

I wouldn't mind wooden pencils. Not like I need any more, but it beats the metric ton of sugar my mother always gets me, which just so happens, is the worst gift I got.

Father in law given a few days to live as of yesterday :/ Last 3 christmas seasons have really sucked with family members dropping like flies around the holidays.

Edit: He passed last night. RIP.

Went in for my wife's first sonogram (of our second pregnancy, have a healthy boy already) on Thursday only to see some not-so-good news in that the heartbeat was irregular and we couldn't see the yolk sac. It could mean we just went a bit too early, or it could mean we're going to miscarriage, or it could be this rarity called molar pregnancy which is worst case scenario. But either way we basically have to just wait a week until the next sonogram to see if there are any changes, which is in 2 days on this Thursday the 28th.

So the holiday weekend when we were supposed to be excited and were going to tell the close family about the pregnancy was kind of a bummer. We did tell the family but they know what is going on too. We're just hoping we see good news Thursday but are kind of also prepared for bad news. It has just sucked knowing there is nothing we can do but having to wait a week just to find out what is going on.

Regular pencils would be...odd.

Now I'd be excited to get a pile of carpenter pencils. Those things are great and always go missing when you need them.

I find all of mine. Carpenters discard them when they're only 1/2-2/3 depleted, but that's still plenty for my uses. I don't need quick access and a big grip for my purposes. I'm either decorating xcuts in concrete, or making slow deliberate marks on wood/metal. Speed of access isn't my primary concern, and I'm not using them all day long.

Both families have delayed their gift openings for me this year. But, I was given one stocking to open during a breakfast. It contained the typical useless crap: finger puppet for a child (the kind that you get 20 for $1, but these were repackaged from the last two Christmases when we also received them), orange, pens, Christmas ornament with 2016 printed on it (I assume a last year post-Christmas sale), etc.

But the worst was a kiwi. It was supposed to be a golden kiwi. But, no it was the typical green kind. Except it was punctured by the other gifts in the stocking so it leaked juice all over everything in the stocking and then onto myself. The last straw was that it was so unripe that there was none of the typical kiwi tartness. It tasted more like a plastic drinking straw than anything.

As no one I know ever gives me anything from my Christmas list, I suspect that it is all downhill from here. Probably the most useful gift was a random anonymous Amazon gift code from someone here on ATOT.

I can't complain. I got everything I asked for (which wasn't much) and then a whole lot of other stuff, some really cool/useful others not so much, but it's all free stuff.

All my best.

Yeah, both of my kids were puking Friday night/saturday morning. Still pales to the problems others have. I just had to do a lot of laundry on Christmas eve.

What the....? Why?? Please tell me you didn't receive this after asking for a VR headset.

No nothing like that. Its a gift from a much younger sibling who is not good with technology at all. I'm sure she decided to get me smellys and the VR bit was just a "ooh he likes technology, VR = Technology". It put a smile on my face at least 😀

Just generic pencils, made in China. Long done with school. I swear he just stopped at the dollar store and got something.

However, after reading this thread, yikes!
Best wishes to purbeast0 & ImpulsE69.

A banana Moon pie. It was not good.

Fortunately, I also got a chocolate Moon pie, which was good.

Scented Crayons. I don't even know why this is a thing, flavored I would understand. But they were from my almost 2 year old so it is fine. She must have been trying to copy the well received colored pens she got me for my birthday in Oct.
