it's like watered down coffee to me. I use 4x as much coffee in a single serving. I've never opened up a k-cup so 4x might be an optimistic guess.

Yeah, I generally only brew the 4oz or 7oz out of the k-cup. I tried the 9oz and it was bad....at least on the flavor I tried.

I really need the Extra Bold/Dark Roasts, otherwise they do come out crappy.

Work buys the Folgers "original" in the pre-measured packets. That stuff is horrible. Absolutely horrible.

They just started using that at work a couple weeks ago. Use 2 packets per pot, it's tolerable.

But then you are just going from watered down battery acid to full strength battery acid.

:p

Ex wife used to buy some "Generic" crap at Sav-A-Lot.
Smelled like skunk while brewing, tasted like God knows what! (Just not coffee)

Just one of the many, many things I DON'T miss!!!

I was getting espresso from Trader Joes.
Recently they move to some whole bean "fair trade" espresso that costs 50% more and taste like shit.
I would say that their new espresso has to rank in my top 5 worst espresso beans.

CFON is nasty and gave me the shakes

I disagree. Chock Full O Nuts is about the best of the commerical brands. It has always been considered more of in between a regular commericial coffee and a premium coffee.

That said, CFON is the most variable of any commercial coffee. Some cans are awesome and some just meh.

It wasn't a brand, but when I was in Italy last time I asked for American Coffee one place, and they made me coffee using espresso in a french press. It was like drinking mud.

Why the hell would you do this???????????????????????????

Burger King is the worst fast-food coffee.

As for the better types: Cafe Artigiano (Vancouver) > Starbucks > McDonald's > Tim Hortons

I'm guessing "Americano" means a different thing in US coffee shops than it does in Italian ones.

Why anyone would order an Americano in Italy, I do not know. But I do not like espresso served Italian style (tiny cups, extra strong), so I guess I understand.

Starbucks. I'd rather have the $0.89 three day old coffee from the gas station.

Because I don't like espresso? I like the taste, I just don't like how tiny they are. I like to sip my coffee and enjoy the flavor. Espresso is like 2 sips if you really take it slow.

Starbucks, tastes like they squeezed it from a used maxipad. Wouldn't drink that ever again even if it was free.

He said "American Coffee," not "Americano." I took that to mean that he asked for drip coffee in a country that is known for its espresso. The espresso in Italy is so much better than anything you can get in the states.

Cafe Americano is as close to "american coffee" as you can get in italy. I didn't go up to the bar and tell them I wanted American Coffee. That's what "Cafe Americano" is supposed to be the equivalent of though.

There is no difference in Italian. You would say "caffe Americano."

What I mean is I don't think the Italians necessarily have a word for what we in the US call an "Americano." You'd have to describe it - "caffe con acqua calda" (coffee with hot water, where the word "caffe" in Italy implies espresso).

Or just order a caffe latte if you don't want a traditional espresso.

Ask for a double, triple, quad, etc.

Or, order more than one?

Jesus.

Worst actual coffee: Got "Kenyan blend" or something from Dunn Bros. Tasted "green," like the beans hadn't been fully roasted or something. Very watery and strange. Maybe it was just a bad batch.

Worst coffee-like drink: McDonalds McCafe. Tastes like hot, artificially flavored non-dairy creme with oil and extra chemicals mixed in. Absolutely revolting.

Yea artificially flavored coffee you show them with your foody knowledge.
