I knew it was ENGLISH. but since WHEN and WHY did ENGLISH first became the International, or the second favorable language for other foreigners?
When the English-speaking folks controlled more technology and capital than any other lanuage.
So, my guess is somewhere between 1850 and 1900.

hm? i thought the Japanese have more advanced technology than the U.S.
Not then or now, and certainly not in combined tech and money.
Don't confuse Japanese consumers love of the latest robot Dog/cemera phone with research dollars, and things like landing a man on the moon.

😀

i always thought the japanese have the best electronics.

They have the arguably the best consumer technology. When you consider industrial or medical applications, it's not as clear.

why do foreigners study English anyway? it's not like their planning to live in a English country or anything.

It's simply because Enlgish is the international language. When I meet French, Chinese, Hungarian, Russian or whatever, I expect them to speak English with me, as they expect me to speak English with them.

My native language is Korean which is voted as the most scientific language (voted by scientists at U.N convention or something), however, it's no good once I meet non Korean.

'Cause it is becoming the international language of business and politics. If a Japanese company wants to do business in Cote D'Ivoire, they speak english.

add that English is much easier to learn.
Easier than what? English is a hard language.

This man is correct. English is actually a very hard language to learn, it has (IIRC) more words than most if not all other languages. Its rules can be difficult to understand, and often conflict if context isn't present. Not to mention that more often than not you aren't suppose to follow the rules anyway, you're suppose to use some random exception that applies only to that particular context.

This is compared to other languages which have far less words, and less syntax rules for usage.

Ummm...the US is the technological leader in the world. It performs, by far, the most research and development.
