What is the meaning of your life?

Where are you going? What are your goals? In what do you find meaning? Do you ever get bogged down by the fact that your job basically creates job for other people who create jobs with other people to create an economy in which some people contribute positively to the increasing of human knowledge or the human condition?

I remember taking a philosophy class years ago, and there was discussion about the "workaday" world which periodically depresses me (Kierkegaard?). What's the point of it all for you? Just curious about perspectives here.

who says life is suppose to have any meaning?

Is there a god? Is there a purpose in life? Is there an afterlife?

Life, like life in nature, only has one purpose. Reproduce. I think that's the meaning of life ... find a mate and reproduce. Let the generation live.

No one does (well, some do), but do you give yours any? Or, do you just go through the motions of working, bringing home a paycheck, paying bills so you can afford to work some more? Seems rather silly, doesn't it?

curiosity. i am curious to see how my life ends up. and to learn. Einstein once said: "It is a miracle that curiosity survives formal education." i prefer learning by myself. school offers no interest to me whatsoever. anything i care to learn about, i read about or ask someone who is knowledgable about the topic. One of the reasons i come here :)

The meaning of my life right now is to find some meaning in it. Pretty confusing I know. ;) But I have spent the last ten years raising kids, and pretty soon my youngest starts school. I will be alone all day then, and I need to find something for me. It's just hard, I have not done something solely for me in so long, I am at a total loss.

<<Reproduction, and lots of it.>>

I myself only prefer to attempt it. :) I can't help it, I'm just a failure (at reproduction)and intend to stay that way.

That would be silly.

I prefer to think that 'I work so that I may live'. I certainly don't live so that I may work. Big difference.

Bobtist, as sad as it may seem, that's all to life. We must survive, so we work. We must pass down our genes to our offsprings, so we mate. We die because that's life and well, that's about all to life. Unless you think you were destined from birth to accomplish something great, I would stick to the general meaning of life.

I'm just kind of learning to enjoy the journey at this point.

What has given me the most meaning in life are my relationships... Mother, daughter, sister, lover, friend. Connecting with others makes me feel like my time here is/has been worthwhile.

I know, I'm kind of hippy-chick flaky, but that is what is most real to me.

"We must, we must, we must...." Just seems pointless. You end up right where you started. Of course Isla (hippy-flaky, heehee;)) pointed out that it's the journey that counts, not the destination, but still... Why would anyone live a life with vigor if there wasn't a meaningful cause?

To glorify God and enjoy Him forever. That's the only thing that gives me purpose.

to post on AT and become an "elite" :) j/k . I think it is finding what you love to do, becoming successful doing it, and finding "the one" to enjoy the rest with ;)

to IBhacknU: By Jesus' life, death, and resurrection he validified all His claims and ended any doubt I might have had. So I know I chose the right one because Jesus said so. "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." John 14:6. Now one must believe that the Bible is true and Jesus did indeed rise from the dead, which I do. But even in that God gives us evidence.

There is also the impossibiblity of the contrary. But I doubt you all want me to go into the transcendant arguement.

So yes I am sure I chose rightly, He is the only real one.

And I guess the faith others have towards their Gods is wrong? You know, the bible's a great collection of stories. It's not the only compilation of values and thinking out there.

Try not to be so shallow to the beliefs of others. Jesus aint the only game in town!

Its the best one though ;)

Not to say some of the others aren't completely wrong, Islam and Judaism base their religion on God as well. Christianity is the only one based on love, and unfortunatley it is seperated into so many factions.
