The Quran on the other hand in multiple locations directly calls for the death of Infidels and that the worshipers are the tools for that, there is no warped interpretations involved.

Why because you say so? Because if you take quotes/translations out of context you can make it look that way? Actual Muslims will tell you differently. But what do the billion plus of them know right? I'm sure you have anti islam websites you will ink that say differently.

Of course they will tell you differently. You think a pedophile is going to say hes a pedophile when asked to his face? Dont be silly. Read it for yourself if you dont believe.

Quran 2:104 - "For disbelievers is a painful doom."

Quran 2:114 - "Allah will make disbelievers' lives miserable in this world and torture them forever after they die."

Quran 2:191 - "Kill disbelievers wherever you find them. If they attack you, then kill them. Such is the reward of disbelievers."

Quran 2:193 - "And fight them until persecution is no more, and religion is for Allah. But if they desist, then let there be no hostility except against wrong-doers. "

Quran 2:216 - "Warfare is ordained for you, though it is hateful unto you; but it may happen that ye hate a thing which is good for you, and it may happen that ye love a thing which is bad for you. Allah knoweth, ye know not."

You already admit that there are contexts where killing non-muslims is ordained. These commandments are binding, ergo, you believe that killing non-muslims is the right thing to do.

You're a snake. Truly.

The problem with Islam is the outrage over how they are being treated in regards to double standards with free speech.

Here is an example, that is often given by peaceful muslims when they discuss the depictions of prophet mohammed.

In France, the Gayssot Act, voted for on July 13, 1990, makes it illegal to question the existence of crimes that fall in the category of crimes against humanity as defined in the London Charter of 1945, on the basis of which Nazi leaders were convicted by the International Military Tribunal at Nuremberg in 1945-46

This kind of stuff is radicalizing extremists in Europe, but not only that, it creates sympathetic muslims out of most of europe.

Muslims by and large support what basically is blasphemy law, and it embitters them when there are already basically blasphemy laws in place for other religions or things.

So you take the EU which basically is supposed to have free speech, but have carved out a nice little niche in their free speech laws for Jews, but stand by Charlie Hebdo. And you leave yourself with radicalized extremists, and a large group of sympathetic supporters who will denounce the terrorist attacks, but not the reasoning.

edit: to further clarify, Islam itself is more or less against free speech. But to top it off, even sensible muslims can become sympathetic to the extremist outrage over specific things and general culture, because Europe has preferential free speech laws things OTHER than Islam.

I don't honestly care about what Islam's message is (because I don't believe in it, since I don't agree with it - but that doesn't mean it needs to be wiped out or censored), or what a bunch of white guys from the Bible Belt think Islam's message is.

My opinion is to let them be - good, bad, whatever.

How do you let them be? The muslim extremists feel it is God's calling to create a worldwide caliphate and have everyone live under Islamic rule.

You know this is stupid. I know this is stupid... but it is what drive's groups like ISIS. If they were happy with their only little caliphate in the desert somewhere... sure. But these people are insane and I don't see them stopping anytime soon.

A Religion of Peace?????

The Quran contains at least 109 verses that call Muslims to war with nonbelievers for the sake of Islamic rule. Some are quite graphic, with commands to chop off heads and fingers and kill infidels wherever they may be hiding. Muslims who do not join the fight are called 'hypocrites' and are warned that Allah will send them to Hell if they do not join in the slaughter.

Quran 2:104 - "For disbelievers is a painful doom."

Quran 2:114 - "Allah will make disbelievers' lives miserable in this world and torture them forever after they die."

Quran 2:114 - Who is more in the wrong than he who bars God's places of worship, so that His Name be not mentioned and invoked in them, and strives to ruin them?Such people might never enter them, save in fear (whether because of their alienation from the Religion or because they try to destroy them owing to their animosity against God). For them is disgrace in the world, and in the Hereafter a tremendous punishment.

Quran 2:190 "Fight in the way of allah those who fight you but do not transgress. Indeed. Allah does not like transgressors" (Fight those who are fighting you. Defend yourself)

Quran 2:191 - "Kill disbelievers wherever you find them. If they attack you, then kill them. Such is the reward of disbelievers."

Full verse "And kill them wherever you overtake them and expel them from wherever they have expelled you, and fitnah is worse than killing. And do not fight them at al-Masjid al- Haram until they fight you there. But if they fight you, then kill them. Such is the recompense of the disbelievers."

But hey, editing out the entire quote isn't misleading in any way).

Quran 2:192 But if they desist, then surely Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.

The actual translation from the word Qital is physical combat during war, not warfare (or Jihad).

if you look at 4:75 "And what is wrong with you that you do not engage in combat for the sake of Allah, and for those weak, ill-treated and oppressed among men, women, and children, whose cry is: "Our Lord! Rescue us from this town whose people are oppressors; and raise for us from You one who will protect, and raise for us from You one who will help."

Let me guess where those "quotes" came from.....

[One of those contexts where it's okay, huh?

Quran 2:190 "Fight in the way of allah those who fight you but do not transgress. Indeed. Allah does not like transgressors" (Fight those who are fighting you. Defend yourself)

Great. Now read the verse that follows.

Yay, another context where it's okay!

But hey, editing out the entire quote isn't misleading in any way).

I didn't want it to become a word wall.

You make it seem as if you've just enacted a "Gotcha!" moment. You haven't; you've just proven that there are commandments pertaining to slaughter.

The actual translation from the word Qital is physical combat during war, not warfare (or Jihad).

No, Qital == Fighting, according to http://www.quranicstudies.com/jihad/the-distinction-between-jihad-and-qital-fighting/

As well as http://quran.com/2/216

if you look at 4:75 "And what is wrong with you that you do not engage in combat for the sake of Allah, and for those weak, ill-treated and oppressed among men, women, and children, whose cry is: "Our Lord! Rescue us from this town whose people are oppressors; and raise for us from You one who will protect, and raise for us from You one who will help."

What does the Quran have to do with any of this?

If those Quran passages had any real bearing on the actions of the Muslim faith there would have been terrorism or war basically since it was written.

Quoting it makes no sense, it is a weak argument against Islam, and there are much better ones that can be made.

It's because of their religion that they act this way. It's Allah that they praise when they slaughter, it's for their prophet that they slew a cartoonist that drew a picture, it's for their religion that they execute homosexuals.

It's a barbaric, savage, hellish religion that hails from the iron age. And it's that religion that these people adhere to.

Religion is the pretense for fundamental intolerance.

We can see fundamental intolerance cropping up elsewhere, and religion has nothing to do with it.

Feminism has a good example - "Get your hand off my breast now" - false allegation and she then knocks him off a ledge at a feminist rally, is cheered.

Would she have done the same if the ledge was taller? What if he managed to fall on his head and die, that group at that time made it not safe to be against them either way, which is the beginning of terrorism.

The issue is more than just religion, it takes the perception or actual marginalization of a group, and then somebody in that group evil enough to cause great harm, and then that same group that feels marginalized, actually is relatively sympathetic to the reasoning behind the attacks.

Show me an atheist minority that beheads homosexuals. This minority should have over, at least, a quarter of a billion individuals that pertain to it, if we're to keep the numbers in the same ballpack.

Show me an atheist minority that takes sex slaves from other minorities. As an example, Muslims capturing and endlessly raping Yezidi women.

And feminism? How does some lass pushing a guy off a ledge represent feminism?

Feminism is, for example, getting rid of the middle eastern culture of throwing acid in a woman's face, should she rebuke your sexual advances.

Another example of feminism, is the work being done against the nation-wide kidnapping of women and then forcing them to marry their kidnappers, that occurs in Kyrgyzstan.

Please. If you're going to make a straw man, do it right.

Uh, no? They're doing what their religion says. That is why hardly any of the "moderates" say anything against them. When a Muslim kills a homosexual for being homosexual, he's fulfilling Allah's will. To do otherwise, is to sin, which condemns them to eternal hellfire.

Jihad is Islamic. Caliphates are Islamic. The actions of these Muslim terrorists are commanded by their "holy books". They genuinely believe what is written in them.

You must be clueless. What the hell do you think ISIS is chanting all day every day? It's the Koran, and they aren't taking it out of context either.

From my other thread:
According to [Princeton scholar and leading expert on ISIS theology] Haykel, the ranks of the Islamic State are deeply infused with religious vigor. Koranic quotations are ubiquitous. “Even the foot soldiers spout this stuff constantly,” Haykel said. “They mug for their cameras and repeat their basic doctrines in formulaic fashion, and they do it all the time.” He regards the claim that the Islamic State has distorted the texts of Islam as preposterous, sustainable only through willful ignorance. “People want to absolve Islam,” he said. “It’s this ‘Islam is a religion of peace’ mantra. As if there is such a thing as ‘Islam’! It’s what Muslims do, and how they interpret their texts.” Those texts are shared by all Sunni Muslims, not just the Islamic State. “And these guys have just as much legitimacy as anyone else.”

There is a cause, other than the existence of the Quran, that made a group decide to re-read it literally.

In the future the jews could decide to re-read the Hebrew bible and decide to destroy Canaan and all of the non-Israeli and bring about their own apocalypse.

The catalyst is not the Quran, it is definitely part of the fuel though.

Oh please, lets not pretend that many in the MC aren't coddling and turning a blind eye to this. If this happened to any country or religious group the rest of the religion or country would literally be ON BLOODY FIRE speaking out against and booting these people committing these acts in thier name. That simply isnt happening in the Muslim Community. Not in the Middle east where it matters anyhow.

Maybe they want to keep their heads attached to their bodies... Just a thought.

Why do they believe what is written in them? I just don't think the answer is as simple as "because Islam". This was pretty much quiet since the crusades, and now again has become a problem. Why? Did the Quran tell them to wait 600 years?

Pretty much quiet? Hell of a way to ignore history. Muslims have been rampaging for centuries, just as Christians when Christianity was the same age.

It's just that in today's world, there are roads. There are cars, planes and guns.

Revolutions have been fought over far less. If that is the case and the silent majority is just too afraid, then I again say "what the hell is the deal with Islam". A religion that (regardless of the wording) has spawned a culture filled with 90% cowards and 10% psychopaths has something fundamentally wrong with it.

I feel the same way about Christianity. The end result of all the atrocities perpetuated in its name, to me makes it overall a bad influence on the world. Islam is even worse in that today, in the modern era they still cant "work and play well" with the rest of the planet. The whole western Judaism and the 2 cults it spawned (Christianity and Islam) has been a total nightmare.

The Middle east has been that way since millennia before Islam. Literally since written history began in Mesopotamia. It has been violently taken and retaken 100's and 100's of times... Its still happening today. Its a fucking hell hole and we need to get out of it.

And having a religion that embodies the barbarism, slavery, savagery and rape, is to ensure that it is perpetuated and spread further.

Now, if the ME was a Jainist part of the world, then I'd be a lil' suspect of the actions of those that killed people in the name of Jainism. But to do so in the name of Islam? The texts command it! The texts command rape. They command sex slavery. They command slaughter. They command slavery.

It sucks that the majority of Muslims are peaceful and get a bad name by the way the media and social media treat the news.

Fixed that for you. If some nutcase shot an abortion provider, people would be up in arms if it was presented as "Christians in the U.S. are terrorists. Look at what the Bible says. <verse from Bible that recommends violence.>"

Or that I have read it myself and clearly you haven't.

Why don't you try it sometime, look up Quran 9:5 4:89 or 8:39 on your own.

There are plenty more you can read right from the book, but you have already shown enough ignorance that I am not going to invest too much time in you.

Christians say the same crap, "you are reading it wrong or out of context".. I call them Christian attorneys, because they have to warp it to have the outcome they want it to in that moment.
