I bought a PPro 200 system kit from Computer Surplus Outlet. Biggest mistake ever.... It took them nearly a month to get the right voltage regulator modules to me, and I think there was a problem with the SCSI card on the mobo. I couldn't get the machine to boot in winNT or win2k. Oh, and they didn't send me a case that would fit the board. Completely the wrong form factor.

I still get steamed thinking about it. Never again.... never again....

The very last remainder from this $1800 (including shipping) POS is the 200W PSU powering my rig in the RMAed absence of my PP303X :D

I also bought an $85 Perfection 610 scanner a couple of years back that I've used for all of 4 times maybe

Sounds like you were lucky with your Gateway.

My Gateway was full of proprietary parts, even the lights in the case didn't work with my new MB. I had to trash nearly everything except my CPU, memory, HDD and sound card.

My Compaq from Best Buy - this piece of crap is so un-upgradable, it aint funny. I cannot even get win2000 or XP to install on it. Win ME I am stuck with until I rebuild a new one in two weeks. Oh I can't wait to try out XP.

Oh and those of you bitching about a Doge Truck tranny problem, I got a 94 Doge Ram big 8 cylinder with 167,000 miles on it and never had a problem with tranny or engine yet.

You got a sound card? :D I had onboard sound and onboard video! I sold the motherboard and CPU to my friend and gifted the RAM to my brother last year. Just a couple of months back I sold the HDD on AT. Yeah, sure I was lucky ;) Got to re-use just the RAM and HDD for a while and am still using the PSU, keyboard and mouse! Mostly, I was upset that the sales guy would fob off a soon-to-be-obsolete system on me! I had just come to US then and my credit rating was not very impressive - paid something like 23% interest :D Also, I didn't know it at that time, but there was a Gateway store about 5 miles from where I lived. Could've saved the $180 on shipping :) Well, atleast it motivated me enough to build my own computer and am loving every minute of it now :)

This neck cooler from Sharper Image. That thing is supposed to cool down your neck so you can feel cool but it doesn't do sh|t. $70 down the drain. It also came with a free mini fan. It looked pretty cheap and it broke after 1 hour of usage.

an Emachine with a Cyrix processor, 32MB RAM, 3.2GB HDD, crappy PS, crappy mobo...the only thing that was left inside the ugly case was the proc, mobo, and FDD, and then it still would shutdown/restart on its own, randomly, then we took it apart and built a new 'puter.

Bought a P133 Laptop off of FS/FT forum for $200. The thing lasted about 6 months then half the keyboard took a dump. Must have used that thing 30 times tops.

Had a Sable station wagon that overheated, warped a head. Then had a power steering pump put on it that leaked on the exhaust manifold on the way home. Wife parked the car turned around and flames were coming out from under the hood. That POS burned to ground right there.

my wallet, which made me put cash in it instead of leaving all my money at home and taking a 20 or so when I needed it. I ended up getting about 300$ stolen over a 2 week period in which I got my wallet jacked 3 times (don't ask, don't tell).

Ditto to that. Its novelty wore off in about a month and I realized I don't need to carry around a damn computer everywhere I go. Luckily I recouped a good portion of the $$$ on FS/FT.

So true. Only in my case it sits there doing nothing. :(

Ditto on the AT&T Cordless phone. I went though three of those lemons within a 1 year period.

Purchasing a radar detector wasn't very smart, either. I never has a speeding ticket before I got one, and then got three within a year after buying it :(

Bribing... er... "donating" to the state police fraternity has proved to be a MUCH better way of getting out of a ticket!

What is the biggest POS you've ever purchased?

Computer-related, it has to be a Celeron 766 CPU. It wasn't a POS, of course, but it was so slow... When I was thinking that had I spent only a few $ more I could get a P3 733... I really hated it.

Same here.
1985 jaguar xj6. I've seen monkey's do a better electrical job of wiring before (ok, not really ), but this is probably one of the worst investments of my life.
I feel for you. They should've spent more time working on developing a decent electrical system than figuring out how to put polished wood on the dashboard. The thing that they used to say about Jag's was that you should buy 2, so you can drive one while the other one is in the shop.

Well.. Ford owns them now and they may be more reliable, but they've lost all of that Jaguar mystique in my eyes. Whenever I see a Jag S type, all I see is a Lincoln LS with a fancy shell, nice leather seats and a wood dash.
