I know!

Take medicine, for example. Oh you probably have this illness so take this pill.

What, that didn't work? Ok well maybe it's this other thing so let's try this therapy.

Still didn't work? Ok must be in your head.

Yet people still go to the Dr.

It's almost like different types of science require different types of analysis. :hmm:
The underlying science of climate change is one of energy balance which is settled science.

If it is so hot in places that "people literally melt". Then there is no saving us anywhere we go to hide.

Let us say, global warming is real. And, there comes a time, where everyone pretty much realizes the environment, and most of the life on this planet, is screwed.

Let us say... mass extinction is real? What would the survivors do?
Murder each other. People get kind of funny when there's no order from civil society.

Oh, and they'd probably be farmers / hunters. Look up Tribalism.
It's not pretty.

Suck on it buddy. Typical blow hard Liberal has to get in your face if you disagree with their mindless shit.

Yeah I got in your face. Weird that you were the one that interjected yourself and your nonsense first.

And as usual when getting called for the complete ignorant and intellectually dishonest person you just slink away because deep down you know what a fool you really are. Hell you and idiots like you try the "durr I don't know what I'm talking about, but that sure as shit isn't gonna stop me from talking about it" nonsense. And yet for some reason you think you should be taken seriously.

Well mindless shit would describe you and most of your posts pretty well, so maybe you shouldn't go around flinging your textual poo if you don't want it to end back up in your mouth.

Seriously, just once and man the fuck up and actually either accept that you are wrong and accept and admit that, or actually try to discuss this beyond your empty claims.

Wow I know you "skeptics" like to deny things but a whole continent?! :O

The average depth of the ocean is 3700m. If 1/10 of that 3% ends up as melt water in the ocean that will raise the sea level by 10m. That ignores the effect of thermal expansion on the water.

650,000,000 people live within a 10m elevation of the ocean. Plus every port in the world.....

Water volume shrinks as it melts and radius is a function of the cube root of volume.

When and if there is a functional problem people will deal with it.

And water expands as it heats.

The whole point of climate science is to understand the problem so dealing with it will less expensive than burying our heads in the sand until dealing with it costs and order of magnitude more.

Most people can't plan more than a week in advance
Most companies can't plan past the quarter.
Most governments can't plan past the next election.

This is a problem that spans decades.

They make too many doom and gloom predictions. Nobody actually knows the consequences. If they were more level headed about it instead of trying to scaremonger for more funding I'd be more inclined to believe them.

I lol'd.

Holy shnike that girl needs to be hit with a shovel a few times.

OMG, it's amazing what makeup can do to an unattractive woman.

Look at a few of her other videos and because she's wearing makeup she looks like a much different girl.

Currently medical science is also very corrupted, which is just one branch of a very large tree of science. I wouldn't be surprised if the whole thing needs to be grabbed from its root, yet first follow the money.

But yeah, the editors of the world's two largest medical journals have called into question the veracity of every study they helped publish. Some have also blown the whistle on current climate science, there's probably little difference when money's involved. Of course, expect to be ostracized and loose your tenure and grants when gaining whistle-blower status, sort of like the scarlet letter S.

"Snow is a thing of the past"
"Katrina's real name is global warming"

Let us know when they stop lying.

Got any links to a scientific study where those comments were made?

Or did you just unskeptically accept they were said by climate scientists because you read it on the web somewhere?

I honestly won't feel bad for humanity when it comes to the op description of the world. All the science has pointed to the fact that the earth is warming and a big factor in that is co2. When the world reaches the tipping point and a runaway greenhouse effect takes place man will have no one to blame but themselves.
I hope we find a solution to the energy problem before then. It's already too hot for the most part so I hope it happens soon.

I read something to the effect that the sea temperature has risen by about 0.3C in the past few years, so yes it's real. It may not sound like a lot but consider the amount of energy required to heat that much water. Though I like to call it more climate change, since while globally it may be heating up more, it also causes more sporadic climate in general, it's not just hotter. Times where it should be warmer are cooler and vise versa, more storms, etc...

Wait till Winter my friend.

We had a day of -16 in CO last year.

That's cute. :p

Typical day in January or February here. I saw -49 for a week when I was in high school but don't recall seeing it that cold again after that, but it's probably happened just did not check forecast. TBH with no wind it's not really that bad, I still walked to school.

Ocean temps have actually gone up less than that. But since water holds so much energy:

nasa_nodc_world_ocean_heat_content_0_2000m.jpg

It's actually retained 1.7x10^23 J of energy over the last 20 years.

This is approximately equal to
  • 1/3 the impact energy of the Chicxulub meteor
  • 40 million megatons of TNT

It is cute how you think you're doing anything other than show just how little you know. Granted you do that in just about every single post you make on these forums, but its gems like these that really give us chuckles. Intellectually you're like those people that do horrible things to themselves to get attention and laughs. Only you think people are laughing with you and not at you.

You should run for Miss America, that way we can at least get a laugh from you doing a speech. "Like um, so, I don't know, but like, so if the ice melts, it's already water, so how would water level rise? And like it is cold in winter, so, uh, that's cold, y'all. And like they used to call it cooling, then warming, now they call it change, but like um, so it is a myth!

And that disputes that post how?

There already is a functional problem. Sea level is rising. Yes it will take years to fully reach the worst it is projected to and hopefully it might not reach that, but even a few feet rise will have a major impact. It just makes logical and fiscal sense to adjust for it beforehand.

They make too many doom and gloom predictions. Nobody actually knows the consequences. If they were more level headed about it instead of trying to scaremonger for more funding I'd be more inclined to believe them.

Such as? Considering how people, especially on any controversial issue seem to explicitly seek out the least level headed people, I can't really respond. For all I know you listen to the minority claiming there is some debate about climate change, despite the overwhelming consensus from people that know what they're talking about. If you go out of your way to seek out bad information from bad sources that is on you. Just because there are people like the OP (who has a habit of saying ridiculous hyperbole to get reactions) doesn't mean you shouldn't listen to climate scientists.

We don't fully know all the consequences but we know plenty of them. We know what releasing lead into the environment does, we know what rising sea levels will do, we know what a lot of this stuff will do. And we're gathering as much data as we can so we can better know what is happening and hopefully get an idea of what will happen.

"Snow is a thing of the past"
"Katrina's real name is global warming"

Let us know when they stop lying.

From what I can gather you're getting that first one from a 15 year old short article from a UK paper. If taking issue with that is the crux of your "they're all lying!" argument then I don't know what to say.

Your second point is based around one article and some people pushing that idea 10 years ago. Climate science is a lot larger than that. I can't view that article (it's behind a paywall on Boston.com) so can't say what exact argument and information the writer used, but Katrina highlights why it makes sense to take weather and climate seriously and to adjust beforehand. Katrina's damage was exacerbated by New Orleans not adequately preparing for such storms. They were aware of issues but just gambled. Same with NYC and Sandy.

But why you're taking articles like those as evidence of total lies of climate science I have no idea. Find better sources, and know that climate is more complex than a singular storms.

Humanity will survive. The survivors might end up living in bunkers when the planet becomes a giant desert, but there will definitely be some survivors.
