$20 radioshack headphones, they're surpisingly awesome- the bass driver in them is richer than i've experienced in most other $50-$60 headphones

I just about bought a pair of Sennheiser HD570s for $70, but I decided I didn't like the open air design. If there's other noise in the room it makes it too hard to hear what you're listening to. So what's a good closed headphone? Looks like the Grado SR-60/80 are open air too.

The Sony MDR-V6 seems highly praised on this board, so I might get that. Anything better in the same price range?

Edit: I was also considering getting a pair of Etymotics earphones. Pros/cons?

the SR-80s are worth it over the 60s, i used to have the 80s and they are the best for their price, i upgraded to the 125s when my 80s broke

For closed 'phones in the ~$100 range you have ATH-A500s, HD-280s, and MDR-V6s. Seems that A500s are liked better over at head-fi, but either one of those will work just fine.

Sennheiser MX500 $16 shipped from Newegg.com

Use them mainly while working out, but looking to buy a pair for home use in the $100 range....sometime soon that is.

EDIT: Have the MX500, not the MX400...I think

nice dude

how do you like them? i love my 125s

After about 25 hours of burn in, they really started opening up. The response is amazing for the price.

I didn't like the ear pieces at first, they were super stiff and would hurt after an hour of solid listening. They softened up after ~2 months :Q and now they rock.

Overall I'm very happy with them. I'd recommend them to anyone who is teetering between pure audiophile and just a casual listener.

Bang & olufsen A8 earphones
paid CDN$250 for it with 3 years warranty.

the absolute best earphones i've owned so far. ULTRA comfy and very good sound in music, DVD and games. A very good investment indeed.

Those are both open-air though.

What are the pro/cons to getting a pair of Etymotics earphones over traditional headphones?

Edit: There's a comparo at head-fi that says Sony MDR-7506 and Sony MDR-V6 are the same thing. True?
