What happens when you powerbrake by throwing your Dodge into reverse?

Your bright friend is actually lucky if all that broke was the drive shaft Buddy of mine built up a camaro that ran low 11s...didnt bother to put in a driveshaft safety loop, stock driveshaft. Needless to say, the combo of slicks, power-shifting, and nitrous shredded the shaft and his floorpan and nearly stood the car up on its nose. It took soooo much work to ge that car back to normal....your friend should be lucky he is alive and didn't mess his truckup more.

Agreed.. total abuse.. nothing is meant to stand up to being thrown into reverse at any decent speed.. that's BAD!

The piece that is off on the front is a small plastic spoiler. I broke mine off 4 wheeling. It does help at high speeds suprisingly.

The truck is sitting lower in the front because it is a truck 😛 Some are designed to sit lower in the front (dodge) on the assumption that you will have a few hundered pounds in the back, so it will then sit level.
 
I did that once to my dad's 94 Camry. I was cruising at 30 when I accidentally threw the car into reverse (it was an auto). The car just stopped there in the middle of the road. Luckily the car didn't stall and there were no cars behind me. I just shifted back to "D" and drove home. I was so scared when my dad took the car to the dealer for a tune up (I never told him about it). It's being 4 years already since that day and the car has never had any problems. God bless Toyota 🙂
 
Thats not powerbraking anyway

Powerbraking is when you are setting still and put the car in gear with one foot on the brake and the other on the gas to bring the rpms up wihout moving.

What he did is just stupid 🙂.
 
Next time you see this guy, hit him with numerous amounts of large heavy damaging objects. Damn moron.

what a moron!!! i've always wondered what would happen, but never done it, and wouldn't have tried it, not with a new car anyways...

what if you throw it into 1st gear while hauling it?????

That is going way beyond the redline. I think you would bend a valve or something.

If it is a non-broken automatic, it will stay in higher gear until the road speed has dropeed to an engine safe level. Now stick, that's another story.

I dunno about you but my first gear has no synchro so I can't put it in first unless I stop.
