What happened to the default ? I can't stand this layout.

I use an addon for firefox that makes everything dark and text white. So actually I'm loving this new layout even more...bit too much empty space on either side but w/e.

Isn't the forum I'm looking at just a skin

That fixes one of the 3 or 4 major issues I have. The orange text is killing me, and the string of "share" buttons across the bottom of the page just plain offends me for reasons that I don't understand. The default avatar is annoying, and all that crap on the right side needs to go away. Overall it feels like an inflated phone app.
All it really needs is a big banner across the top that reads "This one trick can save you hundreds on your utility bills".
I hate having to adjust to new things.
There is a 3 dot button on the upper right of the forum that will toggle the side bar off/on.

Hey there all,

Your feedback is being collected and synthesized. It may take a little bit to get acclimated to some of the new features in XenForo 2.0, but once you discover them and start using them, I think you'll appreciate that they are there.

I'm glad that most of the negative feedback I've heard so far has been primarily aesthetic - predominantly color choice. These are fairly straightforward tweaks that can be made to the skin that we'll be adjusting based on the consensus of your input. (One primary item being a replacement or a tone-down of the orange that matches the AnandTech editorial pages). Please do note that there is a Dark theme (found in the bottom right-hand corner using the theme selector), and most likely we'll be re-introducing the much older vBulletin-style appearance for those with a preference for the legacy/historical.

As these tweaks are made, in the interim if you happen to bump into any outright bugs or issues, please be sure to chime in here with them in the central feedback thread: XenForo 2.0 Upgrade Announcement.

Thanks for your patience, and your feedback!

Yours,
Joe

It seems that if you choose the default style, you lose the button at the bottom of the page to switch to a different style. You can still change out of the default style through your account preferences. FWIW, I lean towards the default style for now.

And we still need a facepalm emoji...

But it is nice that we can now upload images!

It's still there but the position of the button moved. Its towards the left side of the page at the bottom in that style. Click on "Default Style" and you can change it back

Unlikely, sadly.

Also this might be the last straw in terms of me using this burned out husk of a site anymore, it's pretty much unusable with all the ridiculous dead space and how squashed everything is

edit: also it took me 5 minutes to post this, and then it posted 4 times. glad the software was updated for performance reasons lmao
Please don't leave me alone with IW and Perk.

So you're the culprit.

What's your address, Joe?

Another case of IF it isn't broken THEN leave it the f__k alone failure. What features was everyone asking for such that they outweighed the CONS of what was now the reality?

I'm just waiting for the smart users around here to start writing and posting proper scripts that fix this ungodly mess. First, I need those garbage tool boxes on the right side of my page eliminated. Then, some proper color themes.

edit--lol oh Snap! clicking that little "tri-colon" do-hooky next to the blue reply button up top fixes the sidesbar! interestingly enough, that doo-hicky is called "sidebar."

😀

I see how to get ride of the junk on the left, but not the right. Help me!

Edit: Nevermind - found it

I LOVE the new look, less than 24 hours after the implementing of it I see several spam messages, way to go admins.

I hope this looks freaking fantastic on a phone because it's impossible to believe that anyone previewed this on a computer monitor and approved. This is 10 times worse than the old Xenforo default theme and that was unusable. This is complete garbage. Who did the VBulletin theme that most of us were using, Ken g6 if memory serves? Ken, please save us again!!
Well, it seems to work correctly with horizontal orientation on an iPhone XS Max -- unlike before.

I have it currently set to the dark theme. I couldn't stand the other two themes. The dark theme would be decent if it weren't for all of the red and orange text.

So you're the culprit.

You're welcome! XF 2.0 is more secure and the infrastructure has a lot more room for needed features. The biggest negative feedback so far is primarily aesthetic, which really, is super-easy to change or add alternatives for. The biggest challenge was/is getting to this platform in the first place.

Another case of IF it isn't broken THEN leave it the f__k alone failure. What features was everyone asking for such that they outweighed the CONS of what was now the reality?

Originally, vBulletin had that big breach, so platforms had to be shifted to the more secure XenForo, which is what the boards are on now. Upgrading from 1.5 to 2.0 is important, for the same reason that upgrading from Windows ME is an important (though rough) step to take. The cons you mention folks have provided so far have been aesthetic/theme-based, which can be fixed or optioned in short order. The theme critters are already whirring in their tasks. The alternative to upgrading a forum platform is to leave it alone until it dies, and there's a point where benign neglect just becomes outright neglect - and that won't happen here.

there how's that for feedback

Not unexpected - change to habit can be disruptive and jarring. But, we're going to work to accommodate the desire for alternative views in themes, so you'll have your pick.

Am I just not seeing the option for number of posts per page? This thread is only 115 posts as of right now, that shouldn't be 5 pages of posts, only 2.

Is there a way to hide chunks of forums that I don't usually scroll through like we could before? I hate scrolling that far down just to find ATOT.

Call me crazy, but I kind of like it. Now, all we need is animated GIF avatars.

Oh, and images in our .sig.

Then AT Forums can be like every other gaudy Millenial web forum.

Non-aesthetic complaint: pages take substantially longer to load on Firefox using an LG V20 (smart phone).

Used to take a couple seconds moving between pages, now it's taking a solid 10 seconds just moving between pages in the same thread.

Dunno if that's just some growing pains or if the underlying software is just slower / more process intensive.

This theme blows, all of them do actually. Looks like this was designed by a 12 year old.

Where is the ability to have 100 posts per page again?

So many bad things, its like they are trying to kill the forums off more so than they already were.

Ah well life goes on, time to find another computer forums to hang out at that doesnt hurt my eyes to look at.
