I carry a 'extended' magazine in my walther pps. It gives me 1 more bullet and room for my pinkey.
It's a slipper slope.
First I say "I would rather carry a gun and have it then need it and not have it."
Then it's "I would rather carry a backup mag then need it and not have it"
Then it's "I would rather carry a backup gun then need it and not have it"
Then it's "I would rather carry a backup mag for my backup gun then need it and not have it"
How much security is enough? I'm happy with my choice.
I agree with that kind of a statement which is why I like going places with my gun carrying friends.
wow....so not only over carry, but do so with your own 'gang'?
Well if you are up there like black belt level, hell even two belts away...you should be able to handle 2 guys providing you have the strength to back up your techniques.
3 it always gets hard for 1 guy.
I first trained my muscles, then my body (martial arts), while I don't own guns myself I am regularly out shooting.
While it is unlikely that any of us will ever find ourselves in a situation similar to VT or any other mass shooting - The possibility of it happening makes it an easy trade off for me to put a few more ounces on my belt and carry a couple extra mags. I'm not trading anything off in order to do it, so why not.
have anyone actually pulled their gun in self-defense?
Kahr PM40, getting beaten in my own living room in middle class suburbia by a burglar I surprised convinced me to carry an equalizer.

That is a situation where you should not engage, and should retreat to allow the police who are stationed there do their job without having to try to determine who is a "good guy" and who isn't.

Edit: I do agree in the sense that if you're 300lbs, carrying a gun is not really good enough to take care of yourself.

up close though a knife is usually much better than a gun. Many trained fighters can keep from getting shot up close, but almost all take a hit with a blade if the user knows what they are doing.

HybridSquirrel is that the viagina monologues at the bottom quote?
That was the dumbest shit.
What if it's 2 guys with guns pointing them at you? It's going to look something like that guy from Indiana jones with the sword..
