My new phone has LiDAR so I’m trying it out. It took over 20 secs to process a 450k point model and apply textures, on the phone. Back in the 90s, it would have taken hours to days to process the model. The open source software for processing the model on the computer offers kriging as an option. One used to pay big bucks to get kriging software.

Not so much a problem, maybe a first world wtf?
Im in the process of buying a new house. Supposed to close next friday. So i go to set up the utilities at the new place to start day of closing. Cant do it in person. Have to fill out a 4 page document, get a notary stamp and send a copy of the deed.
Ive lived in countless states and cities. Never had to prove ownership just to get the power turned on. This just seems strange.

Eh? Doesn't your real estate lawyer handle that?

Nah, every place ive ever bought or lived we have just set up utilities on our own. Just call power or water and give our name and start date. This is the first time ever having to fill out any paperwork.

Good God no. We hire a real estate lawyer to handle all the paperwork, including fund escrow and such. We just show up and sign the paperwork.

Got my case of canola today. $3/48oz bottle. Product of USA & Canada. That's 42¢ cheaper per bottle than the last time I bought, which was when the traitor caused inflation previously. I don't actually believe Trump solely caused the inflation last time. There were supply chain issues from covid, but fuck those motherfuckers. They blame anybody that's somewhere close that isn't them when anything else happens, they can own covid inflation.

It'll be interesting tracking the price. $3/bottle is easy to remember. Curious if the price goes up.
Canola's up 40¢/bottle. I'm sorry I stocked up, cause I can't participate in the money being liberated from my wallet.

The augmented reality app is amazing! I can walk around an outcrop, look into the bedrock mortars, and all from the convenience of my own living room.

Two days ago, I was working on the new board for the replacement window sill. Got done for the day, lowered the garage door, and as I went inside, I heard a funny "clunk" sound...WTF? Went back out to look...nothing looked amiss...yesterday, I went back out to put the first coat of Varathane on...hit the garage door button...it went up about 2 feet and stopped. WTF?
The damned torsion spring snapped. Called around...garage door places want ~$375 to replace it. One place says they have the spring. $80 if it's the right one...and I can change it myself. Fckng fck. I've installed a couple of garage doors before, so I know how to do it...but those damned springs can be dangerous as hell...and I don't own the tools to crank them open...so another $15 at Home Depot. Still a helluva lot cheaper than $375.

I changed a spring once. I used paracord setup in a mechanical advantage system to pull the spring and hold it.

For the last two years my in-window air conditioner has been leaking water inside when the compressor shuts off. My landlord bought a new unit this winter but I'm waiting for the installation. It's currently 79F outside and 83.8F in my living room. This place has casement windows so I can't even put a fan in the window. :(

Crank them all the way open, stick a box fan in the opening.

I managed to sand the new sill board yesterday and got the second (of 3) coats of polyurethane on it…then it started to rain overnight. Still way too humid (>85%), so I’m on hold to put the 3rd and final coat on.

When I had a portable AC unit to make it work with casement windows I cut a piece of 1/4" plywood to fit where the screen goes then connected the intake and exhaust to holes I cut out in the plywood. Could probably make something like that work for a fan.

Sigh. We had a good run of like three packages guys. Funny thing is, this is the second box in a two box shipment of the same items from the same seller sent at the same time. Saint Louis is cursed.

I just ate a whole chocolate Easter bunny in one sitting, and had a large pulled pork poutine for lunch.

This on it's own is not a FWP, but tomorrow it will be.

A manager used my work truck today.

"OMG! YOUR WINDSHIELD IS CHIPPED!"

"OMG! I drive 5,000+ offroad miles every year."

The manager wants me to get the windshield replaced. It's a waste of time and money as the new one will be chipped within a month. Still better than the Safety Manager that wanted to treat pin striping as a reportable accident.
