shit boomer that is a bummer.

Yeah..thanks. I almost called to see if D was still in town, but I don't think he has all the diagnostic imaging and such with him...but the vet we did see just didn't seem to be good.
I will call his regular vet tomorrow and TRY to get him an appointment.

Ouch that sucks! Sometimes dogs are not the brightest creatures and almost try to kill themselves it seems.

As for today's FWP for me, does not exactly compare in severity...
I suppose buying a lot of 12 hard drives on ebay was not the smartest idea. :p I'm only 4 drives in to testing. So far 1 passes, 1 failed, 2 passed but showing errors.

I need at least 9 out of the 12 to be usable so I can expand one of my raid arrays and that's not looking good lol. I don't know if I want to insert a drive with errors into a raid array either even if it passes the tests.

Worse case scenario I forget this idea and just add these to my backup pool.

Any drive throwing "errors" at all is unacceptable for any use with data that has value above zero far as I'm concerned.

Frankly I'm not sure I would even trust the supposedly "good" drives from that seller for anything important since they either sent them out with no testing at all or worse they knowingly shipped you bad drives.

Noticed two of my outside cameras had quit at the same time. One minute the screen showed four, the next, 2 quadrants were dark. They both feed off the same UPS and POE switch in the garage, so I go out there. UPS is screaming a single note tune.

Grab another UPS from a location that isn't as important and swap it out. Cameras work, but now I( have to figure out if it's the battery or the UPS itself. Battery is about half the cost of a new UPS, so I need to price shop a bit.

By the way, why do they put a security screw on the battery door? I can understand a screw to keep the door from falling off, but why a Torx with a center pin that most people don't have drivers for?

I wanted to send a payment internationally, so I rang my bank.

"I'm sorry, your verification level isn't high enough, you can either go into your bank and request this payment or use the app"
I installed the app. I hopped through all the hoops, put in the banking details of the recipient, passed additional security, confirmed the sending of the payment and then....

"your online banking access has been suspended, please ring our fraud department"

I'm hoping I heard them wrong when they said that they expect it to be a half hour wait, for them to ask me "was that transaction genuine?" "yes" "I guess we ought to send that money then!".

It's time that you both learn to "be your own bank".

I've basically already started doing that. ;)

I kind of regret not getting into crypto early on actually. I remember when Bitcoin was new and GPU mining was still viable and I thought of it but didn't really want to spend the money at the time. If I had gotten into it at that point I'd be rich now. GPUs were actually obtainable back then too and didn't cost 2 grand.

Canadian Tire Money? Your retail stores up there print your own money? Interesting. Maybe we'll see "Walmart Bucks" down here.

This wasn't so much my problem, as I only had to wait 5 minutes for my bus and I got a seat, though it was packed standing room when we took off. More like some other people's problems in the longer lines. And this was just one small part of the station. But this was Port Authority last night at just about 11pm. I love living in an area with the best mass transit in the country, but unfortunately it's still underwhelming compared to the top European countries. Need more buses, buses running more often, more trains and light rails now! But I got to and from NYC very fast last night using it.

Randomly we saw a trader joe's on the walk back from dinner to this girl's apartment. She'd been but I hadn't and it's literally under the brick-walled start of the Queensboro bridge so I was hoping it was cool inside. And it was. line was long but 30 registers made it move in just a few minutes.
